WHAT is a HUMAN PERSON?

Sometimes, we question ourselves, what is being human? What is our purpose in this

world? And also, what differs us from other creatures? This is an issue in our society because

each individual has different perspectives on these questions.

For a fact, we (humans), are animals too but we are more than that. We are capable to

think, reason out and make free choices. A human person consists of a body and soul as what I

have learned in my Philosophy class. I believe this is true because, for me, without a soul, we

wouldn’t be called humans. Having a soul means you can be able to feel emotion and also having

to feel pity or mercy on someone. This is my own viewpoint. We, humans, possess

characteristics and traits that make us feel love, pain, desire, satisfaction, hatred, jealousy and so

on. We can reason to conclusions based on our own judgments or perspectives about anything.

It’s what makes us human. Although we are considered animals, we are not like any other animal

because they don’t have the capability to reason out like us. However, I am not sure since there

have been no experiments of animals being able to feel and do what we do. We are different

from animals because we communicate to others with emotions and with feelings. Although they

maybe able to communicate, we aren’t like them.

As a human person, I would want to do a lot in life. To be adventurous and so on. To be

able to make my life better and my being better. I would want to be able to give purpose in my

life to help others and make them happy. I have a lot of plans in the future to help me as a human

and to also help others out.
