Mrs. Manette’s diary:

Today was a very strange day. I had to go to see Mr. Lorry at the
George Hotel in Dover. When I arrived Mr. Lorry was there. We set
down and we start talking. I told him that I received a letter saying
something about my poor father. My long dead father who I never saw.
The letter mentioned going to Paris but as I am alone in the world I
asked if I could go with a gentleman from Tellson’s to protect me and
help me. He sed that he will help me. Then I asked him what news he
have got for me. He starts telling me some research about my father.
Everything he told me concluded that my dad is alive. I was shocked. I
suddenly lost my senses. I could not believe what had just happened.
