College Essay about BTS

BTS, also known as bangtan sonyeondan or bulletproof boy scouts, is currently the biggest boy group
in the world. They are a kpop group that has had a breakthrough all over the world. The band consists
of seven members:

Leader and rapper:Kim Namjoon, commonly known as RM

vocalist: Kim Seokjin, commonly known as Jin
Rapper: Min Yoongi, commonly known as Suga
Rapper: Jung Hoseok, commonly known as Jhope
Vocalist: Park Jimin, commonly known as Jimin
Vocalist: Kim Taehyung, commonly known as V
Vocalist: Jeon Jeongguk, commonly known as Jungkook

BTS was the first and only kpop group to win a billboard music award in the fan-voted category, top
social artist award, beating Justin Bieber who had a six year streak. They won that same award the
year after and are now on a two year streak.

BTS started out as a hip-hop group and focused on dancing and rapping. They later change into a
more pop group including more singing. They are signed to a company called BigHit entertainment
and debuted june 13th 2013, but what makes them so special?

The first thing that's important to know is that BigHit entertainment was very small company that never
had a group that was very popular before BTS. In the kpop industry there are a couple of large and
famous companies that regularly make new groups and their groups are almost always very
successful. The most famous companies are called the "Big Three" and contains of YG entertainment,
SM entertainment and JYP entertainment. They have released some of the most famous kpop bands
ever like BigBang, EXO and Got7. So BTS is a story about 7 young boys who had to work incredibly
hard against their odds of making it in the industry and then becoming the biggest kpop group ever.

Another reason for their success in the western countries might have to do with DJ, Steve Aoki's remix
for one of their songs called Mic Drop which also featured the rapper Desiigner. That song then
became their first US top 40 single.

Although most of their song are in Korean or even japanese it doesn't seem to matter to the fans. BTS
explains this themselves by saying "music and performances transcends language and countries and
races". Some fans also say that "you don't need to understand the lyrics to feel the emotions of the
song".
BTS is also known for being one of the only kpop groups that write almost all their songs and lyrics'
themselves and they sing about issues like mental health which most groups don't do. Most kpop
groups keep their lyricses lighthearted and fun which BTS also does in some songs but they also go
deeper than that and talk about topics that they feel are important to their fans. Their newest album
series called Love Yourself: Tear, Her and Answer focuses on trying to accept and embrace yourself
in order to love yourself. They felt like this was one of the most important topics for, especially, the
younger generation of today's society and for themselves as well.

After BTS launched their albums Love Yourself they partnered up with UNICEF and started a
campaign called Love Myself based on the believe that "true love starts first starts by loving myself".
Later BTS were invited to UNICEF to hold a speech. Kim Namjoon began the speech by talking about
himself and how he had to learn to love himself. 'Maybe I made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday's
me is still me. I am who I am today, with all my faults. Tomorrow I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that's
me, too. These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of
my life. I have come to love myself for who I was, who I am, and who I hope to become". He then
continued the speech saying "we have learned to love ourselves, so now i urge you to "speak
yourselves"". He ended the speech talking about how he wants to encourage the younger generation
to speak about themselves. "Tell me you story. I want to hear your voice and I want to hear your
convictions. No matter who you are, where you're from, your skin color, gender identity:speak
yourself".

This doesn't just show how much love and passion they feel for their fans but it also show that they are
having a huge impact on today's society. Fans are sharing their stories from all over the world about
how BTS has helped them with their lives and taught them to little by little start loving themselves. BTS
is known for going over and beyond for their fans which especially shows in their performances. They
work very hard for many hours to make the best music and the best dances they can for their fans.
This shows during their performances which contributes to their extremely large and impressive
fanbase.

No one can argue about BTS' passion for their work and fans and although they have come so far
they are not going to stop anytime soon. So what does the future hold for BTS? Although we don't
know for sure BTS wants to keep performing and bring happiness into the world. They wish to be able
to be together and perform even 10 years from now and still have a deep connection to their fans.

I guess all we can do is wait and see what the future holds for BTS.
