Princess Ornaments – Anna Crochet Pattern

Pattern Details

Size:
The finished princess made with the suggested materials stands approx.
21 cm (8.3 inches) tall. Changing to a different yarn weight and hook
size will result in a different sized doll.

Skill Level Needed:


Intermediate – You have to be familiar with basic crochet stitches – such
as single and double crochet – and with how amigurumi is made and
assembled.

Materials Needed:
4-ply milk cotton in the following colors: color A (1 skein) - beige #03,
color B (1 skein) - bright green #25, color C (1 skein) - yellow brown #30,
color D (1 skein) - black #34, color E (2 grams) – bright yellow #08, color
F (2 grams) - grass green #27, color G (1 m / 3.2 feet) - dark coffee #32

 1.8 mm crochet hook  One 10 cm wood slice

 Fiberfill (50 grams)  12*12 cm model grass mat

 Four 10 mm, half round plastic  Scissors

Notes:
 Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.

 All stitches are worked in both loops unless stated otherwise in the
pattern.

 Work in continuous rounds unless it is stated otherwise in the pattern.

 You can either weave in the yarn ends or hide them in the stuffing.
You can even secure them with a knot if you’d like. It won’t affect the
finished look.

 When the pattern does not give directions, attach the pieces to
wherever you want them. You may use the pictures as a guide.

Use color A

Round 1: 7 sc in a magic ring = 7

Round 2-16: 7 sc (15 rounds) = 7

Fasten off, weave the yarn tail in.

Fold two chenille stems as shown in the picture, and insert them into the
arms.

Body and head


Use color A

Round 1: 8 sc in a magic ring = 8 Round 3: (sc, inc) x 8 = 24

Round 7: 48 sc = 48
Trace the base of the body onto a piece of cardboard or plastic and cut
out the circle. Fit it inside the body. Put in 13-14 weighted beads (or
enough the cover the bottom) and start stuffing the body as you go.

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Weave the tail through the front loops of the last
round and pull it tight to close the opening. Hide the remaining tail.
Ear x 2
Use color A

Work in rows.

Row 1: 6 sc in a magic ring = 6

Row 2: tch, 6 sc = 6

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew the ears on the head between rounds 15-17, counting from the top.

Mark the position of the eyes, eyebrows, and nose with straight pins as
such:

 Eyes: between rows 15-16 of the head,


counting from the top, 11 sts apart

 Eyebrows: 3 rounds above the eyes, 4 sts


long, 7 sts apart

 Nose: 3 rounds below the eyes, 3 sts long

Use yarn A for the nose (make 4 turns), and


yarn G to embroider the eyebrows and eyelashes. Glue the eyes in
place and embroider the eyeliner.

Apply some blush to the cheeks and eyelids.


Base
Trace the wood slice onto the
grass mat. Place the doll in the
middle and trace its base too (see
the pictures below). Cut out this
ring and glue it on the wood slice.

Dress
Use color B

Work in rows. Leave a 20 cm (8”) yarn tail before the slipknot.

Row 1: ch 111, starting from the 4th chain from the hook 108 dc = 108

Row 2-12: tch, 108 dc = 108


Row 13: tch and start creating pleats as follows:

Count 3 sts, fold, count 3 more sts, fold. Now you have 3 layers
overlapping. Work 3 sc through all layers. Repeat the process 12 times.
= 36
Row 14: tch, (2 sc, dec, 2 sc) x 6 = 30

Change to color D. Cut yarn B and weave the yarn tail in.

Row 15: tch, (5 sc, dec) x 4, 2 sc = 26

Row 16: tch, 26 sc FLO = 26

Row 17: tch, 5 sc, dec, 12 sc, dec, 5 sc = 24

Row 18: ch 6 (this will be the buttonhole), 24 sc = 24

Row 19: tch, 6 sc, ch 8, sc, skip 2 sts, 5 dc in the same st, skip 2 sts, sl,
skip 2 sts, 5 dc in the same st, skip 2 sts, sc, ch 8, 5 sc

Fasten off, and weave the yarn tail in. Flip the dress upside down.

Row 20: Pull up a loop with color B in the first FLO of row 16 of the dress
(see the picture), ch 2 and work 7 hdc, hdc inc, 2 dc, dc inc, tr, tr inc, tr,
dc inc, 2 dc, hdc inc, 8 hdc

Fasten off, and weave the yarn tail in.

Work a row of surface slip stitches into the edge of row 20 with color E.

Fasten off, hide the yarn tail, and glue row 20 to the dress. Pin it down
until the glue dries.
Row 21: Pull up a loop with color E
in row 19, where you’ve worked 5
dc, sl, 5 dc, and work a row of
surface slip stitches along the top
of the shells to decorate the
neckline

Fasten off, and weave the yarn tail


in.

Row 22: Pull up a loop with color E in row 19 and work into the FLO of
the 8 ch sts to create the shoulder straps: ch, hdc, dc, 2 dc inc, dc, hdc,
sl

Fasten off, and weave the yarn tail in. Repeat on the other side.
Put the dress on the doll, and sew the sides of the skirt (rows 1-14)
together on the back. Sew a button on the bodice opposite the
buttonhole.

Fashion a necklace out of a faux pearl bead and one strand of yarn, and
tie it around the doll’s neck.

Hair cap
Use color C

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring = 6 Round 8: (3 sc, inc, 3 sc) x 6 = 48

Round 2: 6 inc = 12 Round 9: 48 sc = 48

Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 = 18 Round 10: (7 sc, inc) x 6 = 54

Round 4: (sc, inc, sc) x 6 = 24 Round 11: 54 sc = 54

Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 Round 12: (4 sc, inc, 4 sc) x 6 = 60

Round 6: (2 sc, inc, 2 sc) x 6 = 36 Round 13-16: 60 sc (4 rounds) =

Don’t cut the yarn yet.

Part 1 - Bangs

Continue crocheting on the hair cap.


Strand 1: ch 12, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook 11 sc, skip 1
st, sl into the next st

Strand 2-10: ch 8, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook 7 sc, skip 1
st, sl into the next st (8 strands)

Strand 11: ch 12, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook 11 sc, skip 1
st, sl into the next st

Fasten off and weave the yarn tail in.

Turn the hair cap inside out and glue it on the head. Make sure that the
wrong side of the hair cap is facing up. Do not glue down the bangs.

Part 2 - Braid

Use color C

Strand 1: ch 72, starting from the 2nd chain


from the hook sl, 69 sc, sl into the first st

Strand 2-3: ch 70, starting from the 2nd


chain from the hook sl, 69 sc, sl into the
first st or strand 1 (2 strands)

Braid the three strands and attach the finished braid to the hair cap, as
shown in the picture. Hide the yarn tails.

Part 3 - Bun
Use color C
Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring = 6
Round 2: 6 inc = 12
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 = 18
Round 4: (sc, inc, sc) x 6 = 24
Round 5: 24 sc = 24
Round 6: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30
Round 7: 29 sc, sl = 30
Fasten off, leave a 20 cm (8”) yarn tail for
sewing.
Turn the bun inside out, lightly stuff it with fiberfill, and sew it on the top
of the hair cap.
Ribbon
Use color F
Ch 62, starting from the 3rd chain from the hook work 5 hdc, 5 sc, 7 sl,
skip 26 sts, 7 sl, 5 sc, 5 hdc.
Fasten off and weave the yarn tail in. Put it around the bun, as shown in
the picture.

Attach the finished doll to the wooden base.
