1. How will you describe the material self of the main character?
- The main character, Rebecca Bloomwood, is a shopping addict. She buys things that
she doesn’t need in her life that are not important things to satisfy her addiction. She
then thought that when she shops, her world gets better, and when it is not, she shops
again to make it better. She buys and buys until her credit card reaches its limit. She
lives a frugal life that her salary couldn’t match.

2. What is the climax of the story?


- The protagonist’s career was ruined on national TV by her debt collector because of
her unpaid debt. And her love life is ruined because of the lies she tells to the guy.
And her best friend got furious and hurt when she knows that she lost the bridesmaid
dress. Of that problem she is having because of her mistakes, she got herself up
signed for a session of therapy to help her with her addiction. Thanks to her parents.
Because of that courageous step she takes, she earned her best friend’s forgiveness
and the love of her life a chance to begin again.

3. Based on the ending, what kind or sense of self is promoted by the film?
- It is a unified self. The main character shows how an addiction can be self-destruction
to ourselves. The film shows how to accept our own flaws and to be courageous to
seek help if we know that it is destroying our life. As the film shows that the main
character accepts her flaws and all and learned from them, instead of giving up. She
has shown that the once lying shopaholic can turn into an honest columnist.
