Abstract: In the present work, we seek to understand how Shoshana Zuboff's Surveillance
Capitalism was conceptualized, originated and developed from the theoretical perspective of
Lenin’s Imperialism, Higher Stage of Capitalism. Understanding that the author elaborated the
idea that European colonial imperialism at the beginning of the 20th century is, above all, a
definitive phase of monopoly capitalism, reaching the maximum point of contradictions that
would intensify the class struggle; we use this theory to explain how, at the beginning of the
21th century, surveillance capitalism, with its instrumental power capable of conditioning
human behavior to the consumption of its products, is actually a new form of imperialism
applied by the monopoly capital of data, capable now of dominate the relations of production
and consumption from around the world in his own way.
