Juana (Higino) Subriar Encinas Indian name: Koqla't Chumash, Tübatulabal B: 1878? Tejon D:
1934 Bakersfield, California Chief Steban Miranda's niece. Juana's mother is Ana Miranda, sister
to Chief Steban Miranda leader of the south fork kern river pahkanapul "Tübatulabal" band.
Juana's father is Mr. Higino, Malibu Chumash (Humailwo lineage). Juana's mother Ana Miranda
witnessed the April 19th, 1863 Keyesville Tübatulabal Indian massacre, Steban was a teenager
they lost their father, paternal grandfather, three uncles and many relatives that morning. Seven
days after massacre their mother Jennie Pablo (tübatulabal name: wišimlït) moved them all to
Tejon Indian reservation to be safe. Juana's descendants are enrolled with Tejon Indian Tribe,
with many relatives at Kern River Tübatulabal tribe, Tule River tribe and Chumash nations.
