 Clinical psychology: is a field of psychology that deals with behavioural therapy, counselling and verbal

treatment provided to individuals who need it. (Conducted in a clinical setting)


 Cognitive psychology: as the name refers has to do we with cognitions as in the abstract concepts of
mind, intellect, attention, thoughts, feelings etc
 Developmental psychology: Explain the phenomenon of growth, adaptability and development from
infancy to adolescence.
Evolutionary psychology:

 Psychology is the science of the mind and behaviour is known as psychology.


 It covers the various variables, social factors, and environmental factors that impact how people think, act,
and feel.
 Evolutionary psychology is a Branch in psychology that seeks to explain behaviours and cognitions (mental
processes) in terms of psychological traits.
 It explains how “nature AND nurture” affect a man’s growth and makes him more adaptable in an
environment.
 It examines which physical (behaviours and actions) and psychological (thoughts, feelings, mental
processes) abilities enabled human ancestors to survive and reproduce.
 These studies help us understand natural human behaviours today and evaluate the pattern to predict
behaviour in future.
 It Originated from the Darwin’s theory of Natural selection.
 Inculcates the principles of Nature vs Nurture
