Motion: Resolve That the ROTC Should Be Mandatory to All College Male Students

Main arguments:

 The nature of ROTC is very clear and that is for defense nourishments. We from the
opposition would like to agree to the claims of the affirmative side that we also need to
have a high quality for defense. There is no problem at that. For 2022, Philippines is
ranked 51 of 142 out of the countries considered for the annual review. It holds a score of
0.8076 (a score of 0.0000 is considered 'perfect'). This entry last updated on
May/02/2022. Understanding this given data, very clear, we have enough of supply for
this. According to the study conducted by the Environment. (2022, January 11). U.S.
Agency for International Development. https://www.usaid.gov/philippines/energy-and-
environment Ineffective management seriously degrades the country’s significant biodiversity
resources; water and air pollution levels exceed generally accepted healthy standards; greenhouse
gas emissions are increasing from the transport and power sectors; and the country is ranked as
one of the world’s most vulnerable to the impacts of environmental disasters. Mandatory of
ROTC would somehow leads into disastrous consequent. There are factors which are
very necessary that are given less attention. We want to have Philippines to become a
more stable, prosperous and well-governed nation.

 The Philippine joined the signing of tracheary with the UN with a context of 18 years old
below is not allowed to recruit. What about the 18 yrs old college students what should
they do. (Suppose) it does not follow.

 Defense preparedness and civic consciousness, are the ultimate goal. The affirmative
side was failed to give us the details of what had happened to the student from the
university of Sto. Tomas Marc Welson Chua who was one of the victims of hazing
brought by the mandatory of ROTC, he wants to dispose the issue of corruption. It is
understood that, the person has a good intention, but because also of the ROTC
totalitarianism has been given a space. That is why we from the opposition do not agree
and will not agree to make this mandatory. Its does not inculcate defense preparedness
and civic consciousness. It indeed develops discrimination, and bullying. A lot of whom
should benefits for this, yet a lot of whom becomes a victim of this.

 We do not agree to make it mandatory but we are full support to make it part of the
program. We can build a strong defense by the use of literacy, not totally by the exerts of
full power and capacity by holding guns. We can also defend by the use of pen and
speeches.

- What about those who donot like ROTC ? what about those having different
talents, the gays, the members of LGBTQ? They will be forced to attend such
course for the sake of what? Where in fact, they will be having difficulties when
they inter… its useless and its non-sense!
