1 - Pouring Basin:

One of the most important specifications of the pouring basin is to be deep enough and
the entrance into the sprue be a smooth radius of at least 25 mm, it has a funnel-shaped
opening, and this opening acts as a trough for pouring into the upper part of the sprue
without any turbulence. And one of its most important specifications is that the basin
should be large and deep enough to reduce the formation of the vortex and to be full
during the casting process to compensate for the shrinkage of the metal. The metal must
be melted gradually to prevent slag from entering the mould. This may be the main
function of the pouring basin to allow the liquid to enter the mold without any impurities
and that allows entering clean metals found in the sprue.
- Pouring Basin Proportions:

Where, D= Top area of down sprue = 3898.31 mm

And Height of the pouring basin = 2.5*D = 2.5*3898.31 = 9745.77 mm
