OBJETIVOS:

✔ Identificar el uso del presente continuo para referirse a acciones que están siendo
ejecutadas en este preciso momento, y/o para acciones que empezaron, pero no
han concluido

✔ Revisar el vocabulario relacionado con prendas de vestir para describir las

prendas de vestir de una tercera persona.

✔ Diferenciar las reglas del uso del gerundio en el presente continuo o presente
progresivo.

PRESENTACIÓN:

A continuación, encontrará una guía detallada que ayudará a identificar el uso del tiempo
verbal presente continuo o progresivo para referirse a acciones que se están llevando a cabo
en el momento exacto o para acciones que se empezaron, pero no han concluido. Con esta
guía encontrará dos audios que le facilitarán desarrollar los ejercicios de escucha. Además,
esta guía comprende un periodo de trabajo de 2 semanas, el cual está proyectado en 4 horas
de trabajo semanales. Así mismo, usted podrá solicitar tutorías a su docente por los canales
de comunicación establecidos. Los docentes tenemos toda la disposición de colaborarles.

1.APROPIACIÓN
1.1 Cognitiva

PRESENTE CONTINUO , también llamado PRESENTE PROGRESIVO o -ing

form, es la forma continua del presente en inglés. Se asemeja al uso del gerundio en
español. Se utiliza principalmente para expresar acciones que están teniendo lugar en el
momento del habla o que tienen una validez temporal. También puede emplearse con
valor de futuro cercano para planes o intenciones. Se forma con el presente del verbo be
y el gerundio del verbo principal.

EJEMPLO

James is travelling around Australia. He is staying at a

youth hostel in a little Australian town. The town is
becoming more and more popular because of its beautiful
beaches. por
James is meeting his friend Brad in town tonight. Brad is
working there as a tour guide over the summer.
James is in the town center now. Look! James is taking a
picture of another tourist.

USOS

El present continuous se emplea en inglés para expresar:

❖ SUCESOS QUE TIENEN LUGAR EN EL MOMENTO DEL HABLA

Ejemplo: Look! James is taking a picture of another tourist.

❖ PLANES O CITAS PROGRAMADOS PARA UN FUTURO CERCANO

Ejemplo: He is meeting his friend Brad tonight.

❖ ACCIONES TEMPORALES

Ejemplo: James is travelling around Australia.

Brad is working there as a tour guide over the summer.

❖ SUCESOS ACTUALES

Ejemplo: He is staying at a youth hostel.

❖ SITUACIONES QUE INDICAN EVOLUCIÓN O CAMBIO.

Ejemplo: The town is becoming more and more popular because of its beautiful

GRAMMAR (Gramática)
El presente continuo se puede usar para aludir a lo que estamos haciendo en este
momento. Para acciones que empezaron, pero no han concluido y también para
referirnos a planes ya hechos y de preparativos para el futuro.
 La regla del —ing simplemente nos dice que para formar el gerundio
en inglés basta añadir —ing al verbo. La terminación —ing se corresponde con —ando
y —endo del español. El gerundio es la forma de los verbos que se usa para hacer los
tiempos continuos del inglés —presente continuo (en este caso).

SPELLING RULES

La naturaleza de algunos verbos impide su conjugación en presente continuo

en inglés, por lo que no suelen tener terminación -ing. Estos verbos son
conocidos como “de estado” o stative verbs. ¿Qué señalan los stative verbs?
Estados emocionales o mentales, sensaciones, comunicación entre otros.

Hay casos especiales cuya conjugación en presente continuo depende del significado.

Cuando en español hablamos de llevar puesto algo o usar una prenda de vestir se utiliza
la siguiente expresión en inglés: “I’m wearing…” (Subject +TO BE + WEARING)
