Dear Mr. Mendoge,
Greetings from Volunteers in Medical Missions (VIMM). Thank you for beinga valued partner and trusted
ambassador ofthis organization. VIMM is honored for the opportunity to serve the citizens of northern
Cameroon during a medical mission trip later this year, November 12-23, 2021.
VIMM is a faith based, non-profit organization dedicated to serving impoverished and
ized people in developing countries around the world. VIMM was conceived by two young
doctors in 1986 who had a burden to help people in need, abroad, and were willing to make a personal
investment and get involved. That simple act of faith 35 years ago has grown to encompass a network of
‘over 16,000 medical personnel and non-medical volunteers who feel the same calling.
Since inception, VIMM teams ranging from 10-25 volunteers, have completed 360 trips, spanning 42
countries, and six continents: with the help of 5,890 volunteer team members. VIMM team,
members have treated approximately 551,197 patients with a myriad of conditions including, but not
limited to acute and chronic diseases such as diabetes; hypertension; water born illnesses; illness
resulting from pandemies (HIV/AIDS); minor surgeries; and OB/GYN care,
The Cameroon November 2021 VIMM team will be hosted by L’Rglise de Jesus Christ based in Douala, a
coastal ety with access to the Atantic Ucean by the Wourt Kiver. Lodging for the team willbe ata local
hotel in Douala. The team will travel daily by bus to Pouma, approximately a 45-minute ride from
Douala, and to Akonolinga and Dimako, which are longer distances from Douala to hold mobile medical
dlinies.
‘As you are aware, hospitals are non-existent in many of these areas and local clinics are few, understaffed
‘and ill equipped. VIMM Medical personnel are prepared to treat a population that suffers from
‘malaria; typhoid fever; diarrhea; hypertension and heart problems; wounds and skin diseases;

infants/children will be able te receive health care as well.
‘The medical mission to Cameroon will be led by Mr. Kirby Phillips and Mrs. Marthe Bake, Mr, Phillips isa
member of Volunteers in Medical Missions Board of Directors where he serves on the Trip Steering
Committee as well as the Village Health Worker Committee. He isa 20-year VIMM trip veteran, having led
teams to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Panama, and Sri Lanka. He also served 2 years inthe Peace Corps
asa volunteer in the Grenadines, and St. Vincent. Mrs. Bake isa native of Cameroon who migrated to the
United States and settled in Atlanta, Georgia where she is currently a registered nurse.
