Revised Narrative Introduction

In the year 1787, James Madison wrote the following … “Congress shall make no law

respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the

freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to

petition the Government for a redress of grievances”. The first amendment clearly states that we

the people have a right to the freedom of speech. Censorship has become very popular in the

news today due to several popular figures such as Donald Trump, Andrew Tate, and Kanye West,

who have been banned from several different social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter,

TikTok, and Facebook.

Why have they been banned? Many people have been asking this question, but the

answer is because of what they have said. Donald Trump was banned for “inciting violence”,

Andrew Tate was banned for “hate speech” and “violating policies and conditions”, and finally

Kanye West was removed for “anti-semitism”. These all seem like pretty valid reasons for being

removed from a platform. But does this go against freedom of speech? But the question at hand

is how does censorship affect political writing specifically? If censors can remove people from

social media platforms then it is time to question how much information has never seen the light

of day due to censorship.
