Use of EXCEL for Analysis of Variance (F-test)


1. Click DATA, then look for Data Analysis
2. From the pop up window, click ANOVA: Single Factor, then click OK.
3. Click the small arrow opposite the Input Range.
4. Highlight columns A to C (including the labels), then click the small arrow again to return.
5. Check Labels in first row.
6. Supply the level of significance in the Apha box (the default value is 0.05).
7. Click the Output Range, then the small arrow opposite Output Range.
8. Click cell G1 (This is the cell for the output).
9. Click the small arrow again to return.
10. Click OK

Ho: There is no significant difference among the mean systolic blood pressures of the groups.
Ha: There is a significant difference bet and among the mean systolic blood prssures of the goups.
Decision: Since the F-test value (1.004) is less than the F-critical value (3.68), then accept the Ho.
