•The goal of this study is to review
targeting experiences in developing
countries, drawing on a large body of
poverty.
•With the international community's impending
deadline to achieve the millennium
development goals and, in particular, to reduce
extreme poverty, the time has come to examine
the performance of poverty alleviation policies.
5 WAYS
TO COMBAT POVERTY IN
THE PHILIPPINES
1. GREATER ACCESS TO EDUCATION
A lack of access to education in impoverished areas
is a factor in systemic poverty. Education provides
people with basic skills and more job opportunities,
which can aid in the fight against poverty in the
Philippines.
2. GREATER ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE
Philippines will increase funding for Phil health,
which will improve service quality and lower
medical costs.
3. FAMILY AID
In order to support citizens even more, the
government launched the pantawid pamilyang
Pilipino program (4ps) in 2007. The 4ps is a
conditional cash transfer program for low-income
families.
4. ECONOMIC IMPROVEMENT
With the goal of reducing poverty by
strengthening economics, president duterte
signed the rice tariffication law in February 2019,
amending the agricultural tariffication act of 1996.
5. BUILD, BUILD, BUILD
In addition, in 2017, the duterte administration
developed the "build, build, build" infrastructure
plan. The program's initial goal was to complete
75 projects, but duterte revised the plan to finish
100 projects instead.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus crisis is
expected to worsen poverty in the
Philippines. This will result in slower
consumption growth and further income
losses.
As a result, greater efforts are required to
combat poverty in the Philippines in the
midst of the pandemic, which has
disproportionately affected the poor.
