Vocational scenario

According to GlobeScan Human Resource Sustainability Report 2021, employees in the last
three years have established a wider sense of self development and now have more
awareness of their rights. They are putting greater importance on their mental wellbeing
and are demanding changes in working policies to allow for more flexibility, autonomy and
growth to achieve organisational excellence. Current research says that many workers now
value a good work-life balance over working longer hours to earn extra monetary
compensation. Employees are also looking for employers who invest in the development
of “emergent skills” to enhance their level of employability to remain attractive in the
current labour market.

Companies also understand that to achieve organisational success, they need to work
further on employee motivation, engagement, and commitment if they want to avoid cases
of labour turnover and retain their workforce in these unprecedented times when people
are now returning to fulltime work from working remotely during COVID 19.

Role:

You are a qualified Human Resource (HR) Assistant of a company of your choice. You have
been tasked to assist your manager with leading the restructuring of the department as
part of managerial change to enhance organisational sustainability. You are to review and
evaluate the effectiveness of the HR department within the organisation, researching the
role and scope of HR while assessing the main HR functions within to incorporate a plan to
achieve excellence in the form of an exploratory report to be submitted for approval from
your manager.

The exploratory report will also include a renewal of the employee legislation keeping in
view the changing environment. Employees are now valuing freedom, security, flexibility
and growth more than monetary benefits. Most companies are aiming to be more
responsible with the management of their employees for greater wellbeing and increased
optimal performance- The new change in legislation will act as a statement from the
company that will showcase the company’s moral, legal and ethical duty towards its
employees to maximise stakeholder value.
