e.g. He is tired because he has been studying all night.
Have you been crying? Your eyes are swollen.
I have been studying German for six years.
- Actions that started in the past, but are still present or
still in progress
- Actions that lasted and the results are present in the
present
- The duration of the activity is emphasized
