POWER SUPPLY SPECIFICATIONS FOR ALARM/SAFETY CONTROL

PANEL/BACKUP POWER GENERATOR FOR PENTANE SAFETY

Cannon Alarm/safety control panel MUST be supplied with separate/independent/dedicated power

supply line (directly from the main transformer cabin and no further items should be connected with
it). This is required for the safety reasons in order to avoid any interruptions of power supply
caused by:

- Short circuits on other branches/utility points

- Wrong interventions of the operators
- Electrical noise from other users
- Switching off for maintenance of other lines etc.

The Cannon safety control panel and safety items (Sensors, emergency buttons, ventilation fans
etc.) MUST remain alive i.e. electrically connected all the time 24/7/365 (even during the
shutdown, vacations or festival period). Please NEVER switch off their Electrical power supply. In
case of power failure, these MUST immediately/quickly be electrically connected with backup
power generator. Typically, if the general electrical supply of the factory is shut off more than 10
times a year (Factory shut off probability more than 1/10,000) an emergency power generator
MUST be provided for the Cylopentane Safety Items (exhaust ventilation fans/gas
sensors/emergency buttons etc.).

The power supply line of back up power generator MUST also be privileged/dedicated for the
same safety reason as explained above. It Is necessary that customer should verify with local
authorities, the local rules in force related to the installation of electrical generator and eventually
with the supplier of main power supply about the probability of power shut off.

Generally, area of 3.5 m around the equipment with presence of Cylopentane is classified as
"Alarm Zone". In case of Pentane emergency, power supply of "all Non Ex rated" electrical
components, MUST be cut off by following the Cannon Alarm Zone designs. This should be
done by means of an "under voltage release coil (UVC) switch" that is connected to and
receives a signal from Cannon Safety Control Panel.

In the alarm zone area, the illumination MUST be of "Explosion proof" (so that it remain ON even
during the Pentane emergency). If Ex type is not installed, it MUST be higher than IP54 and in such
case, power MUST be cut off through UVC in case of Pentane emergency.
