One of the most important aspects of the legalization of marijuana is its positive impact on

economy. First of all, the government could make a huge amount of money by taxation of legalized
cannabis. Thus, marijuana would provide a revenue just as other taxed products. The demand for
cannabis is increasing and consequently, it can provide a lot of money for the government.
Secondly, regulating marijuana could create jobs. As the use of cannabis is commonly widespread,
it would allow for the decrease in the unemployment rate. Another consequence of legalization of
marijuana is the reduction of government spending. Nowadays, huge amounts of money are spent
on incarceration of people who possess cannabis. Even though the majority of these people are not
criminals, taxpayers have to pay for court costs of each of them. Thus, regulating marijuana would
enable the police to arrest dangerous criminals instead of innocent people. Moreover, the
legalization of cannabis would reduce the number of criminal organizations. The fact that marijuana
is illegal contributes to the much higher prices and thus to the development of the Black Market.
People are encouraged by the possibility of getting richer by selling cannabis on higher prices.
