PROJECT LIFE CYCLE
In order to progress to
the next level, a
student must satisfy
certain conditions –
more often by
providing proof of
mastery by passing the
grade level’s final
examination.
PROJECT LIFE CYCLE
a project life cycle describes the phases that a project goes
through from its conception to its fulfillment.

In any case, they all follow a basic

project delivery framework and,
while each approach may call
each phase by a different name,
they, in the end, discuss the same
basic concepts.
PROJECT LIFE CYCLE
A typical IT project goes through the following phases:

1. Problem definition
2. Planning and design
3. Development
4. Testing
5. Deployment
6. Maintenance
PHASE 1: Problem Definition
This phase involves all the initial activities that will be needed
for the project.
In this phase, the project
team lays down the
foundation of the project in
terms of
- Objectives
- Scope
- Acceptance criteria
PHASE 1: Problem Definition
Existing problem Solution
Questions Actions
Situations Ideas
Considerations Proposal
PHASE 2: Planning and Design
PHASE 2: Planning and Design
This phase intends to prepare the essentials of the project
even before execution.
Essentials include:
• Project team
• Assignment of each member
• Clear timetable
• Work breakdown structure
• Finite budget
• Ready contingencies
PHASE 2: Planning and Design
This phase intends to prepare the essentials of the project
even before execution.
Project Scope
The IT Project Scope is basically an outline of the
requirements of the project.
In this quarter, your team is assigned to create a detailed
project scope for an application development project.
An application that will help the community in protecting
the livelihoods and assets of communities and individuals
from the impact of threats. The threats can be natural or
human-derived, including earthquakes, floods, cyclones,
droughts, price spikes, conflict, and contagious diseases.
Project Scope
The IT Project Scope
is basically an outline
of the requirements
of the project.
Project objective
The objective should be very clear and well-defined in the minds
of the project team members.
The objective answers the question
“Why are we doing this?” or
“What benefits will completing this project bring?”
It should justify the reason for the project’s existence. In any task,
understanding the objective plays a critical role in increasing the
chances of success.

These objectives summarize

the goals of the IT project
strives for after it has been
developed.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES (STORMIFY APP)
• To develop and design an application to help and protect
the community from the distractions made by storms,
cyclones, and floods.
• To connect individuals in times of emergencies.
• To provide the right source of information on how to
survive such emergencies.
• To accomplish all activities given to the team members and
deploy the application for the use of others.
APPLICATION OBJECTIVES (STORMIFY APP)
• To deliver updates for the community and users with
timely and accurate data on approaching storms.
• To offer and suggest life-saving tips and instructions to help
users survive everyday emergencies and natural disasters.
• To help users to get routes to the nearest evacuation
centers, authorities, and hospitals.
• To notify and update other users and automatically save
the user’s location.
• Track and monitor loved ones.
The Scope of Activities
we must determine the extent
of the activities that will need
to be done to complete a
decent project.
PHASE 3: Development
This phase is responsible for translating the scope and
agreements of the previous phases into working applications
or scenes (if the project involves video).
PHASE 3: Development
For complex projects, the application being developed is
broken down into smaller programs called modules.
PHASE 4: Testing
In this phase, codes are tested to make sure that they address
the defined user requirements and that they are bug-free.
ERROR = BUG
PHASE 5: Deployment
These activities may range from simple announcements
informing users that the system is ready for use, to migrating a
system/website into live servers, to filling up a database with
content.
PHASE 5: Deployment
Deployment may also include user training and the creation of
user manuals.
PHASE 6: Maintenance
In this phase, the developers of the system should be able to
provide technical support for the users of the system.
PHASE 6: Maintenance
Video or movie products are also maintained in a way that
allows the output to be played in current media technologies
and for them to make use of new software technologies.
