I’m thinking of ending things

The last book I read was ”I’m thinking of ending things’’

written by Ian Reid.
The book follows a man named Jake and his girlfriend, who is
never given a name, as they go to his rural farm to meet his
parents. As the story progresses, the calm and peaceful
atmosphere that was created at the beginning of the novel slowly
turns grimmer, installing a new eerie mood. The story is told from
the nameless girlfriend’s viewpoint, adding to the spooky
atmosphere as she repeatedly experiences terrifying flashbacks
and continuously reminds herself that she has to ’’end things’’ with
Jake.
Later on, due to heavy snowfall, the couple stops at an
abandoned school. That’s when things take a turn for the worst,
exposing a horrifying plot twist.
Being a complex psychological thriller, this book surely isn’t
for everyone. The themes explored, the apparent simplicity, the spookiness of the details
and the mindblowing conclusion make this book a rollercoaster of emotions.
I highly recommend ’’I’m thinking of ending things’’ for the lovers of the thriller genre.
