DO YOU KNOW?

YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL
BY JAMES BLUNT
My life is brilliant
My life is brilliant
My love is pure
I saw an angel
Of that I'm sure
She smiled at me on the subway
She was with another man
But I won't lose no sleep on that
'Cause I've got a plan

You're beautiful. You're

beautiful
You're beautiful, it's true
I saw your face in a crowded
place
And I don't know what to do
'Cause I'll never be with you
Yes, she caught my eye
As we walked on by
She could see from my face that
I was
Flying high
And I don't think that I'll see her
again
But we shared a moment that

Loving can hurt sometimes
But it's the only thing that I know
When it gets hard Wait for me to come home
You know it can get hard sometimes Wait for me to come home
It is the only thing that makes us feel So you could fit me
alive Inside the necklace you got
We keep this love in a photograph When you were sixteen
We made these memories for Next to your heartbeat, where I
ourselves should be
Where our eyes are never closing Keep it deep within your soul
Our hearts were never broken And if you hurt me
And time's forever frozen still Well, that's okay, baby
So you can keep me Only words bleed
Inside the pocket of your ripped jeans Inside these pages you just hold me
Holding me close until our eyes meet And I won't ever let you go
You won't ever be alone When I'm away
Wait for me to come home I will remember how you kissed me
Loving can heal Under the lamppost back on 6th
Loving can mend your soul street
And it's the only thing that I know Hearing you whisper through the

SONG
I DON'T WANNA MISS A THING
BY AEROSMITH

I could stay awake just to hear you Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
breathing Don't wanna close my eyes
Watch you smile while you are I don't wanna fall a sleep
sleeping 'Cause I'd miss you, baby
While you're far away and dreaming And I don't wanna miss a thing
I could spend my life in this sweet 'Cause even when I dream of you
surrender The sweetest dream will never do
I could stay lost in this moment I'd still miss you, baby
forever And I don't wanna miss a thing
Every moment spent with you Don't wanna close my eyes
Is a moment I treasure I don't wanna fall a sleep
Don't wanna close my eyes 'Cause I'd miss you, baby
I don't wanna fall asleep And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause I'd miss you, baby 'Cause even when I dream of you
And I don't wanna miss a thing The sweetest dream will never do
'Cause even when I dream of you I'd still miss you, baby
The sweetest dream would never do And I don't wanna miss a thing
I'd still miss you, baby Don't wanna close my eyes
And I don't wanna miss a thing Don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
Lying close to you I don't want to miss a thing
Feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're
dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God
we're together
And I just want to stay with you
In this moment forever, forever
and ever
Don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
I feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment

READING
Opera refers to a dramatic art form, originating in Europe, in which the
emotional content is conveyed to the audience as much through music,
both vocal and instrumental, as it is through the lyrics. By contrast, in
musical theater an actor's dramatic performance is primary, and the music
plays a lesser role. The drama in opera is presented using the primary
elements of theater such as scenery, costumes, and acting. However, the
words of the opera, or libretto, are sung rather than spoken. The singers
are accompanied by a musical ensemble ranging from a small instrumental
ensemble to a full symphonic orchestra.

SONG

I’M YOURS
BY JASON MRAZ
Well, you done, done me and you bet D-d-do you, but you, d-d-do
I felt it But do you want to come on?
I tried to be chill but you're so hot Scooch on over closer dear
that I melted And I will nibble your ear
I fell right through the cracks, now I've been spending way too long
I'm trying to get back checking my tongue in the mirror
Before the cool done run out, I'll be And bending over backwards just to
giving it my bestest try to see it clearer
And nothing's gonna stop me but But my breath fogged up the glass
divine intervention And so I drew a new face and I
I reckon it's again my turn to win laughed
some or learn some I guess what I'm saying is there ain't
But I won't hesitate no more, no more no better reason
It cannot wait, I'm yours To rid yourself of vanities and just go
Well, open up your mind and see like with the seasons
me It's what we aim to do, our name is
Open up your plans and damn, you're our virtue
free But I won't hesitate no more, no
Look into your heart and you'll find more
love, love, love, love It cannot wait I'm yours
Listen to the music of the moment Open up your mind and see like me
people dance and sing Open up your plans and damn, you're
We're just one big family free
And it's our God-forsaken right to be Look into your heart and you'll find
loved that the sky is yours
Loved, loved, loved, loved So please don't, please don't, please
So I won't hesitate no more, no more don't
It cannot wait, I'm sure There's no need to complicate
There's no need to complicate, our Cause our time is short
time is short This is, this is, this is our fate, I'm
This is our fate, I'm yours yours!

DEMONS
BY IMAGINE DRAGONS
When the days are cold Don’t want to let you down
And the cards all fold But I am hell bound
And the saints we see Though this is all for you
Are all made of gold Don’t want to hide the truth
When your dreams all fail No matter what we breed
And the ones we hail We still are made of greed
Are the worst of all This is my kingdom come
And the blood’s run stale This is my kingdom come
I want to hide the truth When you feel my heat
I want to shelter you Look into my eyes
But with the beast inside It’s where my demons hide
There’s nowhere we can hide It’s where my demons hide
No matter what we breed Don’t get too close
We still are made of greed It’s dark inside
This is my kingdom come It’s where my demons hide
This is my kingdom come It’s where my demons hide
When you feel my heat They say it's what you make
Look into my eyes I say it's up to fate
It’s where my demons hide It's woven in my soul
It’s where my demons hide I need to let you go
Don’t get too close Your eyes, they shine so bright
It’s dark inside I want to save that light
It’s where my demons hide I can't escape this now
It’s where my demons hide Unless you show me how
At the curtain’s call When you feel my heat
It’s the last of all Look into my eyes
When the lights fade out It’s where my demons hide
All the sinners crawl It’s where my demons hide
So they dug your grave Don’t get too close
And the masquerade It’s dark inside
Will come calling out It’s where my demons hide
At the mess you made It’s where my demons hid

SAINT PATRICK’S DAY

Many Irish people have emigrated from Ireland to the United States over the
last few centuries. They brought St. Patrick's Day with them. St. Patrick's Day
is a serious religious holiday in Ireland, but it has been changed quite a bit in
America.
Today in America people enjoy St. Patrick's Day by wearing green. In fact, if
you don't wear at least one small green item, school children may pinch you.
Probably the most common symbol for this holiday is the shamrock. Since
the shamrock has three leaves, thousands of years ago St. Patrick (a religious
leader) used it to teach the Irish people about the three parts of God. Today
many people wear a shamrock design on St. Patrick's Day because it is
supposed to bring good luck.
On this day many people also enjoy going to a pub and drinking beer. They
tell jokes and have a good time. People who don't come from Ireland like to
pretend they are Irish, too. Some cities hold parades or marathons. It's not a
very big holiday, but it can be a fun one for the people who want to enjoy it. It
is very different kind of celebration from St. Patrick's Day in Ireland.

SONG
HOTEL CALIFORNIA
BY EAGLES
On a dark desert highway Please, bring me my wine
Cool wind in my hair He said
Warm smell of colitas We haven't had that spirit here since
Rising up through the air Nineteen sixty-nine
Up ahead in the distance And still those voices are calling from
I saw a shimmering light far away
My head grew heavy and my sight Wake you up in the middle of the
grew dim night
I had to stop for the night Just to hear them say
There she stood in the doorway Welcome to the Hotel California
I heard the Mission bell Such a lovely place
And I was thinking to myself (Such a lovely place)
This could be heaven or this could be Such a lovely face
hell We're livin' it up at the Hotel
Then she lit up a candle and she California
showed me the way What a nice surprise
There were voices down the corridor (What a nice surprise)
I thought I heard them say Bring your alibis
Welcome to the Hotel California Mirrors on the ceiling
Such a lovely place The pink champagne on ice
(Such a lovely place) And she said
Such a lovely face We are all just prisoners here
Plenty of room at the Hotel California Of our own device
Any time of year And in the master's chambers
(Any time of year) They gathered for the feast
You can find it here They stab it with their steely knives
Her mind is Tiffany-twisted But they just can't kill the beast
She got the Mercedes-Benz Last thing I remember
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys I was running for the door
That she calls friends I had to find the passage back
How they dance in the courtyard To the place I was before
Sweet summer sweat Relax, said the night man
Some dance to remember We are programmed to receive
Some dance to forget You can check out any time you like
So I called up the captain But you can never leave!

You can go to a restaurant to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner and even a

snack when you want. Restaurants serve food to you and to other people
who go and eat at them. First, you look at a menu that lists all of the foods
and drinks that you can order from the restaurant. Then you tell the waiter
or waitress what you want to eat and drink. A “waiter” is the word you use
for a man and a “waitress” is the word you use for a woman. Those are the
people who take your order and bring you your food. Restaurants cook the
food you order. Some restaurants have lots of foods and some have some
foods like only salads or soups, hotdogs or desserts. Some restaurants are
open part of the day and only serve food at some times of the day. Other
restaurants are open all day and serve food all the time. The waiter or
waitress brings your food to the table you are sitting at. You eat the food.
After you eat the food, you need to pay for the food. The waiter or waitress
gives you a bill that tells you how much money you need to pay for the
food. You also need to leave a tip. A tip is some extra money you give for
good help, good food, and good service.

You just gotta be strong You are, you are the love of my life
Cause I don't wanna lose you now (10x)
I'm lookin' right at the other half of me Girl you're my reflection, all I see is
The vacancy that sat in my heart you
Is a space that now you hold My reflection, in everything I do
Show me how to fight for now You're my reflection and all I see is
And I'll tell you, baby, it was easy you

NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP

BY RICK ASTLEY
We're no strangers to love Never gonna say goodbye
You know the rules and so do I Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
A full commitments what I´m We've known each other for so long
thinking of Your heart´s been aching
You wouldn´t get this from any But you´re too shy to say it
other guy Inside we both know what´s been
I just wanna tell you how I´m feeling going on
Gotta make you understand We know the game and we´re
Never gonna give you up gonna play it
Never gonna let you down And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Never gonna run around and desert Don't tell me you're too blind to see
you Never gonna give you up
Never gonna make you cry

SONG

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

BY MICHAEL JACKSON
Another day has gone Though you're far away
I'm still all alone I am here to stay
How could this be? For you are not alone
You're not here with me For I am here with you
You never said goodbye Though we're far apart
Someone tell me why You're always in my heart
Did you have to go For you are not alone
And leave my world so cold Whisper three words and I'll come
Everyday I sit and ask myself runnin'
How did love slip away And girl you know that I'll be there
Something whispers in my ear and says I'll be there
That you are not alone You are not alone
For I am here with you For I am here with you
Though you're far away Though you're far away
I am here to stay I am here to stay
But you are not alone For you are not alone
For I am here with you For I am here with you
Though we're far apart Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart You're always in my heart
But you are not alone For you are not alone
'Lone, 'lone For I am here with you
Why, 'lone Though you're far away
Just the other night I am here to stay
I thought I heard you cry For you are not alone
Asking me to come For I am here with you
And hold you in my arms Though we're far apart
I can hear your prayers You're always in my heart
Your burdens I will bear For you are not alone
But first I need your hand
Then forever can begin
Everyday I sit and ask myself
How did love slip away
Something whispers in my ear and says
That you are not alone
For I am here with you

MEET JOHNNY DEPP

JOHNNY DEPP was born on June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky. His
parents moved their four children to Florida when Johnny was young. At the
age of 12, his mother bought him a guitar and music quickly became his love.
Johnny decided to leave school at the age of 16 to follow a career in music.
He played guitar for a band called “The Kids” and moved with the band to
Los Angeles. They didn’t have immediate success and so Johnny started a
job as a salesman to earn some money. He got married at the age of 20 to a
make-up artist, Lori Allison. They got divorced quite soon, but Lori introduced
Johnny to the actor Nicholas Cage. He saw a future for Johnny in films and
persuaded him to try acting. Johnny made his first film A Nightmare on Elm
Street in 1984. After a couple of other small parts in films, Johnny worked
for three years in a TV series for teenagers called 21 Jump Street. Teenage
girls became big fans and Johnny appeared in popular magazines and on
posters. He was annoyed by this, because he wanted to be a serious actor.
Johnny has never appeared in just one type of film and he has always been
interested in playing different characters. In the early 1990s he played a series
of eccentric characters including Edward Scissor hands in the film of the same
name. Johnny has continued to act in a big range of films and has won the
respect of Hollywood, critics and of film fans round the world. In 1996 he took

LESSON 55

THE WORLD WE LIVE IN

There are many problems in the world today, and pollution is probably
the most serious one. There was a time when people weren’t worried about
it, but nowadays we are facing a different reality. It may be difficult to
believe that people can actually change the Earth’s climate. But scientists
think that the things people do that send gases into the air are making our
planet warmer.
Pollution contributes to the greenhouse effect, which makes the
Earth’s armosphere become hotter and hotter. This can cause the polar
ice to melt, thus raising sea levels and generating floods. These changes
may seem extreme, but they usually occur slowly over many thousands of
years.
We need energy to do things like drive a car, fly a plane, or make things
in factories. But we need to use energy wisely if we want to help slow global
warming. By turning off lights, the television, and the computer when you
are not using them anymore, you can help a lot. You can also save energy
by sometimes taking the bus, riding a bike, or walking. Another thing you
can do is recycle cans, bottles, plastic bags, and newspapers.
It’s clear that the Earth’s climate today is different from years ago and
that more and more we’re facing the risk of natural catastrophes such as
tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, and other natural disasters.
It’s time for people to stop and think of their responsibility towards their
planet and their future.

1. Answer the questions:

a) What other title would you give to this text?

b) What’s the principal idea from this text?

c) There are many ways in which we can help our planet. Do you agree
with this? What can you do to contribute to that?

READ ABOUT FRED’S DAY AND TICK FROM 1-5 (√) THE CORRECT

feed their animals. I really like feeding the crocodiles and the snakes. But my
favorite job is talking to the visitors and telling them about the animals.
But today everyone has a lot of work. Twenty schools are visiting the zoo
today. There will be a lot of people here so everyone has to help. Today, my
friend Tom is looking after my animals and his animals, too, and I am selling
tickets and helping Mrs. Smith in the restaurant. Mrs. Smith is cooking the
lunches and I am washing up and cleaning the tables.
