The Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia is known with the largest tonnage shipwreck in
history. The cruise ship, which was equipped with all kinds of luxuries, sank on January 14,
2012. Before the accident it was off the island of Giglio, in Toscana, and the captain deviated
from the route, approaching very close to the island. This generated an impact against a reef,
causing it to sink. Breaking up all the weight of the boat and caused it to tilt more and more.
As it was very close to the port, the people around observed the event and called the navy to
perform the respective rescue.

3. Shopping
Do you prefer browsing online, or in real shops? Why?
I prefer to buy my clothes in physical stores, because in a store it allows me to see and try on
items in a way not possible with online shopping. I also avoid the costs of shipping a
package, but I also avoid the uncertainty if my package will arrive with the requested
characteristics and without any damage. On the other hand, although online payment security
has improved a lot, this is still one of my main reasons for refusing online shopping, as result
of a previous altercations where my card details were stolen.
Have you ever returned something or asked for a refund? Comment on this situation.
When I was on vacation, I was in Los Angeles. I had previously purchased a computer from
Best Buy, but when the package was dropped off, the monitor was broken. I contacted the
company, explaining the situation and how the item was. So I asked for a refund, since I was
not going to stay long in the United States. They told me that they were sorry for the situation
but they couldn’t refund the money but they resent me the computer that I personally ordered.
Since I had already returned to Ecuador, my dad's best friend had to pick it up because we
were staying at his house.
4. Read the restaurant review (pg 95). Would you like to eat at this restaurant?
Why/Why not?
I would like to try the food of that restaurant because it is a fish picked at the moment and
caught in the sea. I am always willing to live new experiences and meals. Also, having a fresh
meal, I can watch the scenery of the sea and in the same time having a nice atmosphere while
waiting for my plate.
 5. Report the following:
"I want you to give this document to your manager tonight."
He said that he was going to Istanbul for a meeting that afternoon.
I asked if I could mail him important documents, but he said no. Because it wouldn't take
long.
He replied that I would be in charge of any concern or problem of the company.
I answered him that despite being in charge, I would inform him by message about the
situation.
He highlighted to me that he had the necessary confidence in me. That I would fix any
problem before he came.
I would give him the document when my manager arrived. In the meantime, I would read the
document to help you in whatever way I could.
