 Five persons who have big contribution in digital age

Martha Sazon
Martha Sazon is the president and CEO of the application GCash,
the leading mobile wallet company in the Philippines. This
application helps people with money through cashless transactions.
It hit its peak during the start of the pandemic 2020 and continuously
served the people with great service. The idea of building this app
helps most people in times of need to secure the safety and
convenience of its customers.
 Mark Zuckerberg
Facebook is the largest social media site in the world that was
founded by Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of this site, which helps to
connect people from different parts of the world. Moreover, it allows
the users to create an account for free not only to connect with one
another but also to share pictures, videos, music, articles even their
thoughts and opinions. Since 2004, this social media site become the
partner of people around the world.
 Zhang Yiming
Yiming founded an application named Douyin or popularly
known as TikTok. It is formerly called Musical.ly until it was
rebranded in 2017 by ByteDance, the company owned by Yiming.
This application brings entertainment to users as they are allowed to
share short-form videos where they share their talents, play pranks,
tell jokes, and many more. To be short, this app is meant for people to
express themselves and showcase their creativity across a
community.
 Forrest Li Xiaodong
Xiaodong is a Chinese-Singaporean billionaire businessman. He
founded Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia.
This application lets the customer buy and sell their products to
mutually earn and spend money. It became a good platform for users
as it provides a fast and easy online shopping experience with
security in payment. Also, it has different coupons and codes to avail
discounts that catch the interests of the customers. Through the
years, it served as one of the competitors of Lazada, Amazon, and
Alibaba.
 Lee Byung-Chull
Byung-Chul was a South-Korean businessman that founded one
of the largest producers of electronic devices in the world, Samsung.
This brand is known for its outstanding quality of devices especially
their televisions and mobile phones. It is one of the most recognizable
names when it comes to technology which shows that this company
is a successful one. It brings comfort and convenience to customers
so that their products are loved by their people.
 Five interesting technologies

Virtual Reality (VR)

Virtual Reality is the usage of computer technology to make a
simulated environment that can be 360 degrees. The interesting
quality of this technology is it places the user inside the virtual
environment to give an immersive experience. To enjoy the
experience of VR, a headset is used and some of them are Oculus Rift,
Samsung Gear VR, and many more. Using this equipment, the body
can connect to the virtual world where the vision of the real world
banishes.
 Global Positioning System (GPS)
GPS is a space-based radio navigation system that consists of
different satellites that broadcast navigation signals. It has a network
of ground stations and satellite control stations that monitor and
regulate the system. This technology helps in calculating the location,
velocity, elevation, and others to give an output of location
information. It is efficient as it relies on signals which save time in
calculating the distance of a particular person.
 5G Technology
5G is the upgraded version of its previous generation namely:
2G, 3G, and 4G. It can provide bigger capacity, lower latency, and most
of all, greater speed as it can be as fast as 20 Gbps (Gigabits-per-
second) and 100+ Mbps on average data rates. This becomes more
interesting because faster speed means quicker downloads and lower
lag. Having these is expected to bring connectivity benefits for
businesses and advanced gaming to its consumers.
 Solar Panel
Solar panels are made by putting together solar cells, which are
responsible for turning sunlight into electricity. The transformation
of sunlight into electric energy is called the “Photovoltaic effect.” The
process happens when the sunlight hits the cells of the panel then the
energy is being absorbed. After that, it causes the silicon atoms to
move freely in an upward direction to generate direct current
electricity from the sun. This technology saves energy which is
beneficial to the economy.
 Tesla Motors
It is an American electric vehicle founded by Elon Musk and
fellow scientist. This vehicle has battery energy storage, solar panels,
and solar roof tiles that made it different from other cars. The goal of
this vehicle is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable
energy. It is sustainable because it does not need gasoline to drive. Its
name gives tribute to the late inventor and electrical engineer, Nikola
Tesla.

INTRODUCTION OF HEARING AID

In 1898, Miller Reese Hutchison an electrical engineer invented
the first electric hearing aid. The design used an electric current to
amplify weak signals for those who are deaf or people who find it
hard to hear. The first commercially manufactured hearing aids came
to market in 1913. Then, in 1920, hearing aids with vacuum-tube
were able to turn speech into electric signals through amplification of
the signal. It was fully developed until 1990 where all of hearing aids
are all digital in the market.
 BLUETOOTH CONNECTS THE WORLD

Jaap C. Haartsen laid the foundations for the system that was
known as Bluetooth Wireless Technology. It was introduced in 1998,
which brought a change in lives of people because it was invented to
replace the cables of connecting electronic devices. Bluetooth is
short-range wireless communications technology that allows people
to have a conversation via headset or selected gadgets to have a
synchronization with fellow devices. These are the reasons that made
the world accepted this at ease because it added to the functionality
of the phones and enable new sales on them.
 LAPTOP WAS INTRODUCED
Since the computer was present and known to the market, Adam
Osborne invented something portable that will help the users unleash
their skills and creativity. It is called a laptop because it is used while
being rested on a person’s lap without a need for a desk. The first
laptop was not really the ideal one like what we have now, the
appearance is not that appealing but after the innovation of different
companies such as Apple and Windows, it improved and become one
of the competitive devices being sold in the market.
 SENDING MESSAGES THROUGH EMAIL
Having over 2.6 billion active users and over 4.6 billion e-mail
accounts proved the importance of e-mail in communication. The first
example of the email was found on the computers of MIT students
called “Mailbox” in 1965. The users could leave messages with this
program on computers at the university for other users, then they
would see the messages the next time they logged on to the computer.
In 1971, Ray Tomlinson invented electronic mail by using the
Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) system.
Then, in 1993, electronic mail was replaced by email for the internet
to use which became widespread. It became a medium of
communication that made the age of email begin.
 INVENTION OF ULTRASOUND FOR PREGNANT
In 1956, the first time ultrasound was used for clinical reasons.
The obstetrician named Ian Donald and Engr. Tom Brown used the
prototype system of ultrasound in Glasgow but was not perfect until
the end of the 1950s. After Dr. Donald incorporated ultrasound into
the OB-Gyn field of medicine, it became sophisticated in the 1980s but
was not until the 1990s that it became commonplace. Until today,
ultrasounds continuously developed for the sake of good medicine to
people.
