WASTE DISPOSAL PROCEDURE
1. Place all biological hazardous waste in
the clear high heat autoclavable
disposal bags (double bag). Do not fill
above the black line (<50%)
2. Once full, securely close the bag with
autoclave tape
3. Place all sharps (needles, blades, etc) in
the sharps container
4. Place bags and sharp containers in
the yellow waste wheelie bin
5. Once full, place the black rubber clip
to secure the lid, spray the bin with
ethanol just prior to leaving the PC2
area and transport to Module M
(level 1, room 21A) for autoclaving
6. Place the sharp containers on the
bench
7. Fill out the form with your contact
details and attach to each sharps
container
8. Leave the bags closed and place
up to 2 bags per metal container
(the bags will be opened by
Technical Staff prior to
autoclaving)
9. Attach 1 form to the metal
container indicating the number
of total bags to be autoclaved
(max. 8 bags per autoclave run)
10. Take your wheelie bin with you
