Laboratory Assistant, Molecular Biology, San Diego, CA

Day shift- Monday through Friday - 40 hours a week

Lab Assistant supports scientists and researchers in the lab in conducting various tasks:

Ordering:

Use a company approved system to purchase research and/or office items for the scientists.
Keep tracking the ordering information and status
Lab general:

Keep lab organized and clean, comply with the correct procedures, policies and health and safety regulations
Lab instruments:

Prepare lab equipment for upcoming research experiments.

Autoclaving labwares, water-bath, liquid nitrogen tank, organizing pipette calibration, clean-up gel running stations
Submit repair tickets based on scientist request, and assist engineer and scientist to fix the instrument
Submit equipment disposal if necessary and assist equipment decontamination.
Reagents:

Prepare simple reagents like buffers and standard samples

Maintain various lab samples inventory check-in and out or resupply
Help scientist to handle to large volume sample preparation
Assist scientist in sample shipping and receiving
Arrange lab waste pickup if necessary

Qualifications:

B. S. degree in biochemistry or molecular biology 

Biochemistry and molecular biology lab training or course are required
A critical thinker with strong attention to details and a desire to learn new skills
Preferred Skills:

Lab assistant is expected to have the following prerequisite skills or qualifications:

Excellent attention to details, ability to keep detailed records
This role requires COVID-19 vaccination, or approved accommodation and ongoing negative test results upon hire.
