SUBJECT: Autocuidado: El arte del amor propio

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this report is to present what I learned in the talk on self-care: the art of
self-love. It will be useful for my personal and professional use. The talk was presented by Carlos M.
Marín García, held on October 5, 2022, by Microsoft Teams with a duration of 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
The report includes the following parts: self-care, emotional self-regulation, and conclusion.

SELF-CARE

Self-care was defined as the conscious action a person takes to promote his or her mental,
emotional, and physical health. It was shown as important that maintaining a personal routine has
health benefits such as reducing stress and anxiety as well as improving happiness and resilience. This
will not only help personally but also professionally as it will make the person feel confident in his/her
potential at work which will create a pleasant environment for him/her and his/her colleagues.

EMOTIONAL SELF-REGULATION

An emotional self-regulation exercise was carried out which consists of a simulation of a traffic
light being stop as red, think as yellow and act as green. When stopping, I breathe and analyze how I feel,
when thinking, I ask myself why I have these feelings and what can I do about it, and when acting, I put
into practice the solution without causing harm to others or to myself. This is useful when we have a
situation that causes us a bad feeling, we do this exercise so we do not act in a way that later we can
regret, thinking before acting.

CONCLUSION

This talk had a positive impact because during the exercises it was possible to observe how every
day, we do not pay attention to the small details that could create a change both personally and
professionally. Many times, the way we feel personally creates that in the professional field affects our
performance. During the talk several people showed their appreciation for the topic discussed because
we do not take the necessary importance to self-care focusing on other issues thinking that this only
affects the personal.
