 1.0 INTRODUCTION

As an opening, I want to explain that I will do some article review about article that I
have read for subject ADF2023. The tittle for the article is The Use of Logic in
Contemporary Islamic Discourses. The article is about rational application of Logic in
Islamic Discourse. Logic as a tool to eludicate the problems and controversies besetting
the Ummah. This article seeks to explore the meaning of Logic in Islamic Discourse and
how it is used not only to represent Islam, but also to delineate and explain its adequacy
in resolving the Ummah's contemporary controversies. Lately, many issues have arisen
that raise the question mark that uses the name of religion such as the issue of murder is
called jihad by the Islamic State (ISIS), issues contrary to human nature and desire for
freedom such as Lesbians, Homosexual, Bisexual and Transgender and also issues related
to the problem of faith and upholding the wrong things such as liberal Islam, religious
pluralism, feminism and the anti-Hadith movement are included in these polemics.

To answer all the questions that arise, this article focuses on two key objectives: to
define the use of logic in contemporary Islamic discourse and to examine the use of logic
in contemporary Islamic discourse. This paper is going to be split into four sections. The
position of logic as the criterion for assaying reality will be delineated in Section 1, while
the main characteristics of contemporary Islamic discourse will be highlighted in Section
2. The potential for integrating Western Logic algorithms into contemporary Islamic will
be evaluated in Section 3, while Section 4 will outline features of the proposed hybrid
model before drawing the necessary conclusions.
 2.0 DETAILS OF THE ARTICLE

The name of journal which I use to complete tasks article review is The Use of Logic
in Contemporary Islamic Discourses. The author of this journal is Shahir Akram Hassan
(Centre For Islamic Development Management Studies (ISDEV), Universiti Sains Malaysia,
Pulau Pinang). This journal was published at Mediterranean Journal of Social Science
MCSER Publishing, Rome- Italy. The Use of Logic in Contemporary Islamic Discourses
published on September 2016 and volume of this journal is 7 No 2. This journal contains 9
pages from page 171 until page 179. This journal contains 6 tittles beginning with an
Introduction and ending with Acknowlegement. Second topic is Logic and continue with
third topic which is Contemporary Islamic Discourse including Traditional Islamic Logic and
Western Logic. Forth topic for this journal is The Use of Logic in Contemporary Islamic
Discourse and the fifth topic is Conclusion.
 3.0 FIVE IDEAS FROM THE ARTICLE

1. Islam has its own logical epistemology. There are three major approaches to Islamic
logic, Tasawwur, Tasdiq and Istidlal, based on two forms of reasoning, Revelation
(Naqli) and Justification (Aqli).

2. Logic is the method, not the end itself, to an end. The aim should always be the
proselytization of Islam and its teaching. Priority should be given to attempts at
proselytization and efforts to strengthen faith rather than seeking to rationalize all
Islamic things in order to prevail in polemics.

3. A new approach to the proselytization of Islam in modern times needs to be

implemented. By incorporating the convergence of Conventional Islamic Logic with
the Western Logic model, the strategy can be accomplished.

4. A Modern Logic that defines Islam in a language that is easy to understand. It will
help to resolve çontemporary issues more effectively for those open to the West
without diluting the true teachings of Islam in any way whatsoever.

5. The debate indirectly stresses the fact that the learning/acquisition of Islamic logic is
of utmost importance in contemporary times and therefore should not be sidelined.
 4.0 OPINION ABOUT THE ARTICLE

Based on article that I have review I have my own opinion about this article. Firstly, I
think the author of this article has given a fairly complete explanation to the reader about this
topic which is The Use of Logic in Contemporary Islamic Discourses. Starting from an
introduction that presents a current issue that needs clarification from contemporary Islamic
scholar. Then up to explaination of logic in chapter 2 which talks about the origins of logic as
well as logical knowledge. In chapter 3 the author clarify two modes in Contemporary
Islamic Discourses which is Traditional Islamic Logic and Western Logic. Moreover, in
chapter 4 the author gives an opinion on Contemporary Islamic Discourse through the
discussion of the previous chapter. Last but not least, the author has made a comprehensive
conclusion on the last chapter which is chapter 4.

In addition, the author knows the target to whom will read this article. This article is
suitable to be read by groups or students of the university or the general public who want to
know what is logic and the extent of the use of logic in human life, especially for those who
like to think high level. Because the language is quite high and difficult to understand by
some people, this article is not suitable to be read by children or adolescents who are still in
school. This article is very suitable for university students who want to major in logic or who
want to do research in this field. However, other articles are still needed to increase
knowledge and reference to the community.

Thirdly, the author has provided sufficient evidence for the explanation of the title of
this article. This is because, almost 2 pages of the author lists the references he took to review
this article in the reference section. The author has used references from the authorities to
clarify matters related to the topic to be elaborated. The author also uses the Al-Quran as the
main reference material where the Al-Quran is a source of reference for Muslims that is
unmatched. There is enough research or data to support the claims of the author. So I think
this article has given enough evidence to comment on a very important topic to the world
community today.
5.0 CONCLUSION

Based on ideas of this article it showed that this article is useful to all readers. It
would be fruitful to pursue further research about The Use of Logic in Contemporary
Islamic Discourses in order to find out in more detail about the application of logic in
today's world. If policymakers were to take this study seriously, might the issues of
the topics studied will get comprehensive attention to the world community and not
only to the instructors or students taking this major. through such articles will help
answer questions that have arisen recently related to issues that require answers from
Contemporary Islamic Scholars such as the murder of innocent civilians, things that
can threaten Islam, things that can confuse Muslims and so on.
