1.Ibarra changed his name into Simoun to hide his real identity.

He chose Simoun as
his new identity because Simoun tends to influence the government to make bad
decisions.
2.Simoun hopes for the Filipinos to unite and rebel against the spaniards. Simoun
eagerness to provoke in order to get his revenge against Padre Salvi, Spanish
colonization and to his love Maria Clara.
3.If I were Ibarra, yes, I would return to the Philippines because of the love I have for
my country. Despite being rich, I am not happy because of the grudges I felt in the
past. If I were Ibarra, I do not regret the revenge I did because that will make me feel
at ease.
4.The lamp explosion symbolizes the start of a revolt in Manila. At the last part of El
Filibusterismo, Isagani threw the lamp out the window into the river outside the
residence. So the lamp did not explode.
5.If the lamp exploded in the feast, it is unjustifiable, because there are people there
that are innocent, and people that have nothing to do with the revenge of Simoun.
Killing innocent people is not morally accepted in society.
