Majnu ka Tilla:

The first time I went to Majnu Ka Tilla, it was my friend’s birthday and it was a
visit we planned for almost 2 months. Then exams came around we all got
tired after and then super lazy. So, when it was her birthday, we finally went.
Although I’d say it wasn’t one of the best visits (the cake melted, it was really
hot.) however, it was the beginning of my now frequent visits to MKT.
a Sikh guru, a vibrant Tibetan community, and a Sufi mystic. When studying the
rebellion in Tibet, it becomes clear that this location provided many Tibetan
refugees with a safe haven away from their original homes. These immigrants
received the land from the Indian government, and now, we refer to this
bustling neighbourhood as Majnu ka Tilla. Many second-generation Tibetan
refugees reside there. A tiny monastery and a Buddhist temple can be seen in
Majnu ka Tilla. Tibetan handicrafts, culinary products like herbal tea, and even
Tibetan herbal cosmetics are all sold in the several businesses in this area.
