Three examples of students’ work that show patterns of learning are Sofia, Victoria, and Eric’s results.
Both Sofia and Victoria ran into a common issue that the rest of the class had; number two acts as a kind
of trick question meant to throw off those that did not make class notes about Spain changing from
Christianity to Islam after 630 AD, which is what the homework assignment is asking about. However,
Eric was able to see through the trick question, and answered it correctly. The next steps I will take to
ensure that students will fully reach the learning target will be to emphasize taking notes much more
clearly and emphatically throughout my lesson. The pattern of so many students answering number two
incorrectly indicate that I did not make enough of a point about jotting down class notes and important
information, or it means that I did not emphasize clearly enough about Spain’s transition from
Christianity to Islam.
