$10 Challenge

1. Take the $10 challenge yourself. Go to your local grocery store and see
how many nutrient dense foods you can purchase for $10 (+/- $1,
including tax).
● List all the foods and amounts of each food you bought.
○ Mini watermelon = 3.99
○ Mint leafs = 1.29
○ Feta cheese = 2.30
○ Blueberries = 2.50
● List the total weight of the foods you bought.
○ 7.7 lbs
● Post a picture of the receipt or a list with the costs of each food and the
total bill.

1. Obviously by eating healthier, junk food is more often than not way more
expensive than fruits or vegetables.

2.Look for deals and coupons.

3.Depending on what store you go to can also make a huge difference in how
much money you spend.

4.Only buying what you need.

5.Take advantage of seasonal foods, eating with the seasons can save you a decent
amount of money.

1.I only buy what I know that I will eat before they go bad.

2.Meal planning decreases waste.

3.Pick the less aesthetically pleasing looking produce.


4.EAT LEFTOVERS people who don’t eat leftovers are crazy.

5.Learn how to properly store all different kinds of foods.

5. Critique the $10 Challenge video.

They really chose an extreme and the acting was pretty hard to watch.
Representing a recipe for the healthier option to shop for would have left more of
a mark on me.

6. What are 2 other ways you could compare food choices besides using
the weight of the items?

Counting how many items total they got or how many meals (or fractions of a
meal) they were able to get.
