Noli Me Tangere.
stonewalling, delaying tactics, procrastination, obstruction o temporizing.
Ifugao at Maranao.

MATH

● The division symbol is called obelus.

● Did you know that there is another formula for finding the roots of quadratic
equations? It is called the 'citardauq' (the word quadratic backwards) formula but
you will never need it for school Maths.
● The mathematical name for # (number sign) is octothorpe.
● A prime number has exactly two factors. Two is the only even prime number and
it is also the only prime number not to contain the letter 'e'.
● Think to yourself 'How I wish I could calculate pi' and then count the letters in
each of the words of that sentence. You now have a way of remembering the first
seven digits of pi: 3.141592.
● There are types of interesting numbers in mathematics. One such number is a
hundred. The number 100 does not actually mean 100. It is derived from the Old
Norse word “hundrath,” which actually means 120.

SCIENCE

● The oceans produce the majority of the oxygen on Earth. According to the
National Oceanic Service, we can thank plant-based marine organisms for all that
fresh air. More than half of the world’s oxygen is produced by plankton, seaweed,
and other photosynthesizers.
● Bananas are radioactive. Bananas contain potassium, and because potassium
decays, the yellow fruit becomes slightly radioactive.
● The adult human body has 206 bones, while a child’s developing body has 300.
● Wearing headphones for an hour multiplies the bacteria in your ear by 700.
● Salt was once used as currency, where the English term “salary” comes from.
● Human saliva contains a painkiller called opiorphin that is six times more
powerful than morphine.
● A red blood cell can make a complete circuit of your body in 20 seconds.
● A cockroach can live for up to one week without its head. Cockroaches are
infamous for their tenacity and are often pointed to as the most possible nuclear
war refugees. Due to their open circulatory system, and the fact that they breathe
through little holes in each of their body segments, they are not dependent on the
mouth or head to breathe.
● The Earth is a giant magnet. Earth’s inner core is a sphere of solid iron,
surrounded by liquid iron. Variations in temperature and density create currents
in this iron, which in turn produce electrical currents. Lined up by the Earth’s
spin, these currents combine to create a magnetic field, used by compass needles
worldwide.
● Venus is the only planet to spin clockwise. Our Solar System started off as a
swirling cloud of dust and gas which eventually collapsed into a spinning disc
with the Sun at its centre. Because of this common origin, all the planets move
around the Sun in the same direction and on roughly the same plane. They also all
spin in the same direction (counterclockwise if observed from ‘above’) – except
Uranus and Venus. Uranus spins on its side, while Venus definitely spins in the
complete opposite direction. The most likely cause of these planetary oddballs are
gigantic asteroids which knocked them off course in the distant past.
