To complete a bachelor's degree in Independent University Bangladesh it is compulsory for the


internship. Internships help us to get practical knowledge of the field and we get a chance to
implement our knowledge, which we have gotten from our sixteen years of education. It makes
awareness from the field and its requirements that which types of abilities we should have so that
we can perform well in the field. My internship was in “Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd”.

Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd is specialized in providing multiverse services to other
entrepreneurs who need a technical support and other relative tools. Some of its unique products
and services are software development, inventory management system (IMS), tours & travels,
digital marketing, field marketing, point of sale (POS), domain & hosting.

Company Ltd. This is the work that I did by myself; the analysis that I did is related to the
promotional strategies of its products and services which is applicable with Asif Khandaker &
Company Ltd.

In the last, it has given the conclusion about this final project and my internship in Asif
Khandaker & Company Ltd. What is the thing that I learned from this internship in report and
what are the skills and strategies that I should implement in my life and personality so that I can
achieve my goals and objectives. At the end of this report, I gave the references of all the data
and information that I have included in this report.
Chapter 1

Introduction
Internship experience plays a vital role for every student to implement their theoretical
knowledge and get practical knowledge from any organization. For completing my BBA degree
internship report is one of the parts at the final semester of the Department of Business
Administration, Independent University, Bangladesh. Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd gave me
the opportunity for gathering practical experience and preparation of the report. The Independent
University (IUB) assigns me to find a company for my internee and I also get an opportunity to
work for the Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd. AKCL advertised the job opportunity for BBA
holders at Internship Bangladesh Facebook group, then I send my CV and they called me for an
interview and finally I got this job. Finally, I prepared this report under the supervision of Dr. S
M Sohel Rana, associate professor at Independent University, Bangladesh. Department of
Marketing. The report is based on the information, which is gathered during the internship
period.

The report titled “An Analysis of Promotional Strategies of Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd.” is
a collaboration reorientation of my internship program at Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd. The
topic of the report was assigned by the respectable faculty and was followed up by my superior
of the company to satisfy both organizational requirements as well as the fulfillment of the
internship program. This report has been prepared under both of their supervision.

Corporate Social Responsibility is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated


into a business model. CSR motivates business entities to voluntarily involve
themselves in corporate initiatives, as an alternative to additional or existing
mandatory initiatives. Here the business entity creates built-in, self-regulating
mechanism whereby it would monitor and ensure its adherence to the law,
ethical standards, and international norms. Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd

Chapter 2

Internship Experience

Internship course is designed to fulfill the requirement of undergraduate


program so that students can gather a vast knowledge of practical job life.
During my internship period in Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd I have
achieved a great experience working with them for my BBA program major in
marketing from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). Firstly, I came to
know about Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd from Internship Bangladesh
Facebook page and emailed my C.V to them as my qualifications fulfilled their
requirements. After a successful interview I joined as a field marketer from 1 st
October.

From the first day I was supervised by Mr. Asif Khandaker, the director himself.
He gave me a brief about his company and shared his job experience while
working for Bashundhara Group. Gradually I came in touch with other
employees of the company, and they created a friendly space for me whenever I
needed their assistance. I used to work six days a week from 10 am to 2 pm. As
a field marketer I had to approach clients in different shopping malls and small
in Badda area. I presented the products and services that are provided by Asif
Khandaker & Company Ltd. Such as, visiting cards, seal pads, memo books,
printing bags, billboards, and sign boards. These all lies in the graphics mark
and printing house of the company. I got quite positive response from the clients
I approached as they placed orders of visiting cards and sign boards through me.
I met clients of different perspective and learned that field marketers must
obtain a high patience level while dealing with a client and act politely. I also
worked on other departments such as ASIF KHANDAKER ACADEMY and
MINI COURIER BANGLADESH which is a subpart of their business.

Overall Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd is a great workplace for interns who
want to build their carrier in marketing as each task can be fulfilled within a
short time. I am glad to do my internship in Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd as
they provided me a vast knowledge of marketing strategies which can be
implemented in multipurpose businesses.
2.1 Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities represents the duties and task that needs to be fulfilled by
the employee to meet organizational goals. In general marketers are expected to
create and implement fruitful strategies to meet daily, weekly, and monthly
target and satisfy customers by providing products/services which fulfills
customers expectation. During my internship the job responsibilities that I
covered are-

a) Outdoor Job Responsibilities- as a field marketer I used to visit


targeted prospects in different areas of Badda to promote my company’s
product such as visiting card, banner, seal pads, billboards, and
signboards. I used to collect data of the relevant prospects such as shop
name, owner name, mobile number, and address from different shopping
malls. I presented the product categories to the proprietors and explained
the features of it. Moreover, I visited an HSC exam center with a team of
three members to advertise Asif Khandaker Academy’s IELTS Course
where one teacher will council one student. I gave lead to other team
members to approach parents of HSC candidates who are eager to send
their children to abroad for higher studies. Finally, I worked for Mini
Courier Bangladesh which is a subpart of Asif Khandaker & Company
Ltd where I approached bkash agents within Badda area and offered
them Mini Courier Agent ship.

b) Indoor Job Responsibilities- during indoor office hours I used to make


survey reports on excel and word files of the collected data from
different prospects. I was provided with a data list of about 1000+
prospects who are mainly entrepreneurs. My job was to call them over
the phone and offer them Mini Courier Merchant ship. My company
worked with another software development agency named E-Business
Solution where they provide web development, software development,
digital marketing, news portal development services. My job was to call
the editor of newspapers who don’t have an e-paper. I created a data of
about 250 newspapers and called them to take the service of e-paper
development.

2.2 Functions of The Department

The marketing department of Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd maintains


the following functions which are-

c) Producing and supplying marketing and promotional materials

3.1 Analysis of Industry of Asif Khandaker &


Company Ltd

Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd is a multi-diverse marketing agency


providing B2B and B2C services to its clients who are mainly small and
medium entrepreneurs.

In general marketing agencies consist of a group of people who work


towards the development of any company in a way that it brings a lot of
profit.  These people are highly specialized and knowledgeable and carry
the huge responsibly of safeguarding the brand value of a company in
the marketing field. More than 200 agencies are operating business
currently in Bangladesh. There are several well-known advertising firms in
Bangladesh such as Grey, Asiatic, Adcom, Interspeed, Carrot, Clockwork etc. Here, I
am mentioning few top agencies working in Bangladesh. These Ad firms make Ad
for well-known multinational companies and franchises like Unilever,
Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, Airtel, Citycell, PRAN, Mojo, Pepsi
etc.

The World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2012-13)


placed Bangladesh 119th out of 144 countries, with a value of 3.3 out of 7. Coming below
the mean of 4.1, this indicates that companies in the country are less likely than average
to utilize sophisticated marketing tools and techniques. In relation to buyer sophistication,
the country placed 94th with a score of 3.1, below the mean of 3.5. This suggests that buyers
in the country are more likely to make purchasing decisions based on the lowest price rather
than on a sophisticated analysis of performance attributes.
The advertising market in Bangladesh is relatively small compared to those of other Asian
countries, but is catching up fast, the country’s advertising market has been growing
at a double-digit rate over the years, especially due to the mobile phone operators, banks,
and real estates who advertise frequently. There around 200 advertisement companies operating
in the country, but the top 15 companies control 65 per cent of the BDT 1,000 corer advertisement
markets.

operations from 2021 with a variety of projects such as Software Development, Website Development, Digital

related activities.
Being a market challenger Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd is aware of the leading marketing agencies who
holds a strong position in the advertising, content creation and promotional strategies for reputed business entities
such as Square, Beximco, Unilever, Pran, Akij and so on. Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd aims to promote and
create effective marketing strategies for small entrepreneurs so that they can survive in the market competing with
its competitors.
The digital scenario in Bangladesh is almost like what it is in India. The digital
transformation has been rapid for the last 10 years. The Bangladeshi government is also
playing their role in making the country one of the digitally fast-moving countries in the
world. The environment for digital marketing in Bangladesh is becoming extremely
competitive. The demand for digital marketing in the cities has led to the multiplication
of digital agencies. Some of the top digital marketing agencies in Bangladesh are
providing content creation and assisting with marketing promotional tools to other
renowned companies of Bangladesh. These marketing agencies are as follows-

understand and experience.

businesses to thrive in the Bangladeshi surroundings.

more than 70 people. They are famous for their unconventional company culture.

digital services with the adaptation of cutting-edge web, mobile and social
technology.

3.3 Analysis of Promotional Strategies of Asif Khandaker &


Company Ltd

Promotion for any product or service is essential for any company. It is because only through
promotion people would come to know about the product. Only after knowing about the product,
they consider purchasing. Since there are some many companies & brands competing to sell their
products to the same set of customers, advertising & promotion are important tools to ensure
each brand is differentiated & identified.

The two main types of promotional strategies are-


Push Strategy- In push strategy promotional activities are done for the distributors, wholesalers,
and retailers to push the product to the consumers. Trade fairs, wholesaler discounts, bonus and
all the activities which benefit the distributors are all examples of push strategies. Hence the
demand is pushed or created in the distribution channel. These activities are not visible to
consumers and hence it is mostly unknown to the customers. Push marketing strategies are
commonly used to gain and increase product exposure. Push marketing relies mainly upon
traditional avenues of advertising/marketing, such as a series of television ads or a series of
direct mail pieces.

Pull Strategy- In pull strategy promotional activities are done for the consumers.
Advertisements, digital campaigns, discounts in stores etc. are some examples of pull strategy.
Hence demand is created in the consumers which in turn go to the retail stores or e-commerce
websites to buy these products. These activities are visible to all the customers.

As a marketing agency with a range of diverse products and services Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd follows
both push and pull strategy to promote its products and provide services to its customers. It follows a range of push
and pull strategies which are-

 Point of Sale- A point of sale system is the combination of tools that facilitate payment
processing and other retail management functions for businesses. POS systems make it
possible for businesses to carry out transactions with customers and manage their business.
POS systems can consist of both hardware and software components. This can include credit
card readers, cash registers, barcode scanners, and payment processing software—we’ll
touch more on these components below . Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd uses POS for
payment processing, transaction management, inventory management, customer support and
employee management for its business as well as its clients.
 Social Media Marketing- in today’s world people relate to each other through social media
such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. A business entity in today’s competitive market have at
least a Facebook page to let people know about its business. Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd
helps to create valuable social contents for its clients Facebook page, developing websites, work
as domain and hosting for a pre-built site by a group of IT Developers. Moreover, it continuously
creates new content for its own social platforms to pull customers for its products and services.

 Sales Promotion- Sales promotion adds extra value or incentives to the sales force, the
distributors, or the ultimate consumer and can stimulate immediate sales. The two categories in
sales promotion are consumer-oriented promotion and trade-oriented activities. Asif Khandaker
& Company Ltd deals with consumer-oriented promotion tools for its products and services. Asif
Khandaker & Company Ltd aims at increasing the sale to existing consumers and pull new
customers towards them. Some of the promotional tools are offering free samples of its products
such as visiting cards, seal pads, memo books, sign boards, billboards etc. It also created
posters and leaflets for Mini Courier Bangladesh which I distributed among the
mini courier agents and instructed them to display it on a convenient position so
that every customer notices it.
 Outbound advertising- Outbound advertising is a marketing tactic that involves
contacting customers via email or phone call concerning a product that may
interest them. This kind of advertising could reach potential customers who have
either already interacted with the company or who haven't shown interest at all.
Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd has record of a plenty of small to medium
entrepreneurs to whom it calls over the phone, sends e-mails, advertises on social
media, and offers them with its products and services.

 Public Relations - Public relations (PR) is the process of maintaining a favorable


image and building beneficial relationships between an organization and the
public communities, groups, and people it serves. Unlike advertising, which tries
to create favorable impressions through paid messages, public relations do not
pay for attention and publicity. Instead, PR strives to earn a favorable image by
drawing attention to newsworthy and attention-worthy activities of the
organization and its customers. Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd always gives
priority to its customers by maintaining a positive relationship with its customers
in form of after sales service, frequently visiting customers place or call them over
the phone. Moreover, by organizing campaigns for new target audiences where
customers can get in touch with the products/services specifications more
specifically and build a strong relationship with the firm.
3.4 Recommendations

To make a positive impact in customers mind Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd needs some changes in their
strategy. As it is a new company nurturing it is essential and must think about many critical issues
to leave a mark in the customer’s mind.

 Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd should increase the number of employees in field marketing
sector.

 Must take a greater office with plenty of space.

 Keep a severe eye on accomplice channel's methodology towards the client


fragment while conveying items.

Conclusion

I would want to admit to my reader that this is not a compete one; there are many more aspects
on which I couldn't focus throughout preparing my report. Due to a lack of time and resources, I
am unable to address many topics in my report. It's difficult to get such ideas into you because
we only study a bit about the huge knowledge of marketing from our textbook.

Organizations exist when two or more people work towards achieving common goals. An
organization can never be better than the people it hires. Hence, we must get the best to be the
best because the performance of the employees reflects the company’s image and standing in the
market.

Out of the three M’s i.e., Man, Money & Machine, probably the human dimension is of the
utmost importance. Hiring employees is not the sole objective; rather the primary goal is to
devise a tool that can help the organization attract, maintain, retain, and motivate them enough to
give their best to the organization. Training and development are therefore the first step towards
success. Better the quality of the employees better the performance of the company.

An organization’s ability to meet the training and development challenges provides an


opportunity to make significant contributions to the company. With better quality people
executing the company’s operations the HR department can create a competitive advantage for
the company. Here in the end, I want to sum up my report of the internship in Asif Khandaker &
Company Ltd. In a few words. Again, I would like to say thanks to Asif Khandaker & Company
Ltd. And all employees provide such a supportive environment of learning. I must say that my
three months internship experience in Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd was a great learning time
and I believe that it will be very helpful for me in my future career.

During my internship in Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd there was a chance to particularly use
my knowledge and skills, which I have gained during my study as well as gained and
experienced different new skills on the job. It also helped to learn about the field marketing
working in Bangladesh, its procedures for different products and service.

Here in the report, I tried my best to give very informative and useful details regarding my
internship in Asif Khandaker & Company Ltd. And I believe that by reading this one would
agree with me that gaining practical experience of what we learn in books is as important and
useful as any other thing. I was fortunate enough to secure a position as an intern here and
thereby be able to do an in-depth analysis of the working environment of this company from the
inside and of the external environment.
