"Trying to improve the quality of life in many inner city areas, city planners have redeveloped these areas in
several British cities. This process, also known as gentrification, consists in either renovation of old derelict
houses or their demolition followed by the building of new ones. The purpose is to create a safe, pleasant and
civilised living environment. This, in turn, attracts richer residents who can afford to maintain their houses and
who do not contribute to criminality.”
