1) What was identified as the community issue?

The community issue is that people with disabilities are less likely to engage in regular
activities than people without disabilities.

2) Who were some of the individuals (by title/position) that helped in the process (think back to
when we talked about planning committees)?
Recreation providers, community leaders, the staff member at the New Mexico Office of
Disability and Health (the one who discovered it), The New Mexico Office of Disability and
Health, site coordinator, called a “champion,” a team head, called “coach,” and people with
disabilities/the participants.
3) What were the programmatic strategies used to address the issue?
The strategies used to address the issue were providing participants with information about
the challenge, the importance of physical activity, and how they can increase their physical
activity level. They also provided progress reports. They motivate participants through their
peers such as the coaches and through rewards. They set goals and give them a choice of
activities.
