Starting the Fiery E100


The Fiery E100 has a dedicated AC power switch and a power button on the connector panel
(see Figure 3). The green LED in the power button is on when the Fiery E100 is powered on.

Use the following procedure to start the Fiery E100.

TO START THE FIERY E100


1. If the Fiery E100 is connected to the printer, wait for the Machine Tab to appear on the printer
touch panel.

2. Make sure the Fiery E100 power switch is set to ON (|), and then press the power button once
to start the Fiery E100.

3. Wait approximately 1 minute as the Fiery E100 completes the startup sequence.

At first the LED display flashes sporadically and shows 00; then it flashes sporadically again
before reaching and remaining at 00.
4. If the Fiery E100 is connected to the printer, wait for the Start page to print.

Shutting down and accessing the Fiery E100 for service


Shut down the Fiery E100 prior to inspection or service. You access the shut down menu by
navigating to Controller > Tools > Restart Server.

N OTE : By default, the printer touch panel displays information in the New Version style
shown in the following procedure. If the New Version is not working and the message displays
“The server appears to be offline,” press Enable Legacy LCD to switch to a previous version
of the touch panel. (See “Figure 7: Printer touch panel, Legacy LCD” on page 17.)

To enable the New Version touch panel style:


• Make sure Web Services is enabled in Setup.
• Depending on the network administrator’s preference, make sure the DHCP server is
working or manually specify a static IP address to the Fiery E100.
• Reboot the Fiery E100. New Version is available after the Fiery E100 reboots.

TO SHUT DOWN THE FIERY E100


Always verify that the Fiery E100 is not in use before you power off or restart it. Make sure that
the system is not RIPping or printing a job. Before you take the Fiery E100 off the network,
always obtain permission from the network administrator.
1. Make sure that “Ready to print” displays on the printer touch panel Machine tab.

If Printing in progress displays, the Fiery E100 is processing. You must wait until the system
finishes and reaches the Idle state.
2. Press the Controller button to access the Tools tab.

3. From the Tools tab, touch Restart Fiery.

N OTE : If the New Version display style illustrated in the previous procedure is not working
and the message displays “The server appears to be offline,” press Enable Legacy LCD to
switch to the Legacy LCD version shown below. (For more information, see Configuration and
Setup on the User Documentation CD.)

TO FORCE A SYSTEM SHUTDOWN


If the Fiery E100 is unresponsive and it is not possible to shut down the system from the
printer touch panel, use this procedure to force a system shutdown. Force a shutdown only as
a last resort when the normal shutdown method is unavailable.
• Press and hold down the power button on the Fiery E100 for 5 seconds until the green light
goes out and the system powers off.
