NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 31st December, 1997
G.S.R. 730(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred
by section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951),
the Central Government after consultation with the State
Governments concerned and the Union Public Service Com-
mission hereby makes the following rules further to amend
the Indian Police Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954,
namely :—
1.(1) These rules may be called the Indian Police Ser-
vice (Recruitment) Second Amendment Rules,
1997.
(2) They shall come into force from the date of their
publication in the Official Gazette except rule 6,
which shall be deemed to have come into force
from the 1st day of January, 1984 and rule 8
which shall come into force from the 1st day of
January, 1998.
2. In the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment)
Rules, 1954 (hereinafter referred to as the principle rules),
for sub-rule (1) of rule 3, the following sub-rule shall be sub-
stituted, namely :—

mission hereby makes the following regulations further to
amend the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by
Promotion) Regulations, 1955, namely :—
1.(1) These Regulations may be called the Indian Ad-
ministrative Service (Appointment by Promotion)

(2) They shall come into force on the first day of
January, 1998.
2. In the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment
by Promotion) Regulations, 1955 (hereinafter referred to as

Central Government after consultation with the State Govern-
ments concerned and the Union Public Service Commission
hereby makes the following regulations further to amend the
Indian Forest Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regula-
tions, 1966, namely:—
1. (1) These Regulations may be called the Indian For-
est Service (Appointment by Promotion) Second
Amendment Regulations, 1997.

est Service as are held by them to be suitable for
promotion to the Service. The number of members of
the State Forest Service to be included in the list
shall be determined by the Central Government in
consultation with the State Government concerned,
and shall not exceed the number of subtantive va-
cancies as on the first day of January of the year in
which the meeting is held, in the posts available for
them under rule 9 of the recruitment rules. The date
and venue of the meeting of the Committee to make

sub-section (1) of section 3 of the All India Services Act 1951
and read with sub-rules (1) and (2) of rule 4 of the Indian
Forest Service (Cadre) Rules, 1966, the Central Government,
in consultation with the Governments of the States concerned,
hereby make the following regulations to amend the Indian
Forest Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1966,
namely:—
1. (l)TheseRegulationsmaybecalled the Indian Forest
Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Third Amendment
Regulations, 1997.
(2) They shall come into force on 1st January, 1998.
2. In the Schedule to the Indian Forest Service (Fixation
of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1966,
(i) Under the heading "Andhra Pradesh", for item
