Question 1:

In this program. I am currently taking professional writing and managerial accounting

to gain experience in both. In my research, I plan on reviewing current literature and current

projects and applying those projects to a business case that supports or does not support the

project. After I present that case, I will be asked questions regarding that and my project. I

will also write a letter of recommendation for my project. In a nutshell, I am interested in

current literature, managerial accounting, professional writing, and project management. All

of these seem pretty related to one another. I have taken project management and business

writing classes because the projects that the instructors give us in class allow us to learn these

skills. I have had experience in managerial accounting for a few years, and I have studied

professional writing through school. So I have a general idea of how these all intertwine

together. However, in my classes, we have not learned how these all relate. I plan to search

online and through books to figure out how each field intertwines.

As an assistant project manager, I have been planning and making cost estimates for

transmission lines in the Phoenix area and now in the West and South East. From these

projects, I will learn more about risk and project management. By researching current

literature and projects, I will learn more about risk and project management. I will have to

make a business case for my projects, allowing me to evaluate better and write risk

management plans. By the end of this term, I will be given a project that I have to complete

that will allow me to evaluate my project management and business writing skills. I believe

that this project will help me learn more about how all these fields intertwine. I also know

that this project relates to my other field studies because it deals with writing and project

management.

Question 2:

The first goal I hope to achieve this term is to expand my skills in business writing. I

think that in the future, I will be able to write for professional purposes like business

proposals and letters of recommendation. I want to be able to use my writing and

communications skills when I apply for jobs in the future. The second goal I hope to achieve

through this term is gaining more experience in project management and business risk

management. I think that after I finish this project, I will be able to reflect on my

accomplishments and say that I did more to apply the skills I have gained through the

coursework and this project. I am currently not doing any project management in my

workplace, and I think I might start one independently. I have worked on several projects and

have experience applying project management. My biggest goal is to finish this project and

then start a new one.

In addition, I would like to apply the skills I am gaining this term to my career. The

only reason why I think that this is a good goal is that I am applying these skills to my

workplace. My goal is to gain experience in project management and business risk

management. These are things that I would like to have in my future career. By the end of the

semester, I will have completed a project that will have taught me the importance of risk

management and how project management can be applied in the business world. I think that

because I have gained experience in project management, it will help me in the future when I

need to apply it to a project. I believe that because I can analyze projects, the knowledge I

have gained through my research will help me when I work on new projects.
