How to use preposition of place

- Definition

Prepositions of place are words used to express location information or

the location of an object.

The place or position is displayed in a preposition combined with the

object (object of preposition) which is called a prepositional phrase.

What is the purpose of using this preposition? The goal is indicates the
position of the object of the preposition to the subject or object of the
sentence.

The object of the preposition can be a noun, noun phrase, or pronoun.

- An example of a Preposition of Place

1. Aboard (Di atas. Dipakai jika sedang berada di dalam kendaraan,

misalnya kapal atau pesawat)

Example: Lukman is dancing on board a ship in the party.

2. Above/over (Di atas. Dipakai untuk objek yang letaknya lebih tinggi
dari objek pembanding)

Example: I set my vollyball Above my head.

3. Against (Menempel pada-)

Example: Taufik has put a fan against his phone to make it cooler.

4. Along (Di sepanjang-)

Example: Rina get on a boat along the river to heal her feeling

5. Alongside (Di samping)

Example: Ahmad walking alongside the fence when he don't bring his
car to office

6. Amid(st) (Di tengah-tengah atau dikelilingi oleh-)

Example: Japanese people likes reading book amid sakura groves

7. Among (Di tengah atau di antara atau dikelilingi)

Example: Introvert people still feel lonely among the crowd

8. Around (Pada semua sisi sesuatu atau seseorang)

Example: i feel someone touch me around my neck.

9. At (Untuk menyatakan tempat atau posisi seseorang atau sesuatu)

Example: I'll be waiting for you at the cafe "rumah mantan"

10. Away from (Jauh dari-)

Example: I study in a place away from home because I want to make

myself more disciplined

11. Behind (Di belakang atau di balik)

Example: My house is behind the mosque Da'watul Haq

12. Beside (Di samping)

Example: I'm couldn't be happier when I'm Beside you.

13. Below (Di bawah)

Example: my new apartemen is below yours

14. Beneath (Di bawah, lebih rendah daripada-)

Example: : I walk together with her beneath the moonlight

15. Between (Di antara dua atau lebih tempat, objek, atau orang)

Example: I'm confused to choose between you and her

16. By (Di dekat; di samping)

Example: My house is by the convenience store.

17. In (Di dalam)

Example: I Will move to Tokyo in summer

18. Inside (Di dalam. Lebih digunakan untuk menerangkan objek. Misal:
Inside the box)

Example: The bird sleeps inside the cage.

19. In front of (Di depan)

Example: i plan to meet my girlfriend in front of Mall.

20. In the middle of (Di tengah. Digunakan untuk menerangkan tempat)

Example: there was a huge statuein the middle of the park.

21. Near (Dekat dengan-)

Example: I'm happy when my crush is near me.

22. Next to (Di sebelah)

Example: He always puts his cellphone next to him.

23. On (Menyentuh permukaan sesuatu: on the floor, on the table, on

his arm)

Example: I put my laptop on the desk

24. Outside (Di luar)

Example: When you need healing, you can go outside.

25. Over (Di atas. Digunakan untuk konteks objek yang menutupi benda
lain)

Example: I studied at Balikpapan Polytechnic over a year

26. Round (Mengelilingi)

Example: nurse Diba, have you started your round?

27. Under (Di bawah sesuatu)

Example: I lay under the blanket when it's rain

28. Underneath (Letak benda yang berada pada posisi di bawah benda
lain, khususnya menjadi tersembunyi atau tertutupi: underneath the
car)

Example: when i was kid, I put some my Milk teeth underneath the
pillow.
