Culture & Healthcare Assignment

1. Navigate to Blackboard under ‘Assignments & Tests” and locate your group.

Option 1: In your groups, choose a province, territory, or city and explore the conditions of its
Indigenous population. Consider demographics such as population distribution, access to health care,
food security, overall health and social issues.

OR

Option 2: In your groups, choose a province, territory, or city and explore the conditions of its
transgender population. Consider demographics such as population distribution, access to health care,
food security, overall health and social issues.

2. After you choose your topic, you will work together and name three barriers the group you have
chosen has when it comes to healthcare in Canada.

There are two parts to the project, “Individual submission” and “Group presentation”.

Individual Submission (10%)

1. Prepare a one-page report explaining your barrier. In the report you must include three main
items that support your topic.
2. Include your opinion, and how can you aid an individual from this cultural group in your office.
3. You must have a reference page.
4. Submit this document by week 13 before the beginning of class. For example: If your class is on
Monday at 10am, the due date is Monday at 10 am on week 13.

Group Presentation (5%)

1. Prepare a 10-minute presentation on your topic.

2. Include all the group member’s barriers and brief explanation of each finding.
3. What did your group find surprising about the research?
4. What are three ways you can aid to make your office easier for someone from this cultural
group?
5. Prepare a visual aid (video, Power Point presentation, sketch, etc.)

Note: If your group has four (4) students, please add 4 barriers and delegate a barrier to each member.
