ASPECTOS GENERALES
The eighth graders at Escuela de las 30 have a high rate of failure in the
English language. It is probably because this would be a third language that
they try to learn in the classroom. These students mostly have their mother
tongue and apart from that they learn Spanish at the same time. We will try to
analyze how this reality influences the result of their qualifications. And what
means would favor to improve its performance.
Learning a language is a complex process. For some people this occurs without
major setbacks, however, others do not perform well and their learning
encounters multiple difficulties. Various researchers in the area of foreign
language learning have identified that problems such as pronunciation,
vocabulary, grammar, spelling, punctuation and study strategies are key in the
development of learning. In addition, these students are hampered not only with
one language but with two at the same time. Based on the fact that most of the
cases are teachers who transmit the English language, but from the perspective
of Spanish and it is not done from the concepts of mother tongue that would
congratulate their understanding. Causing the student to get lost in a world of
unknown words.
Due to the different types of attitudes in students, as well as the poor
performance in English that occurs in many cases that have been established,
there are some causes that highly affect the learning of a foreign language, it is
necessary to inquire about these problems and explain the relationship they
have with learning English.
• Pronunciation problems
• Vocabulary problems
• Grammar problems
• Spelling and punctuation problems
The linguistic competences in this research are important since they contribute in the
secondary schools of our country; in the training of boys and girls to develop skills,
practices and language management, whose main objective is to awaken interest,
motivation and love for the English language. This research work is based on the
English language learning problems that we can observe in students in the English
present in eighth grade classrooms. We have been able to perceive in eighth grade
students: fear, nerves, discouragement and grief when speaking English in and out of
the classroom. Which is very worrying that children of that level present negative
attitudes towards this language. For this reason we have begun the search for these
difficulties that hold students captive in not learning the language well.
