SNAP OUT OF BAD HABITS

Breaking a habit isn’t easy. However, if you decide to replace a bad habit with a new habit and stick with your
plan until the new behavior becomes automatic, it will make a tremendous difference in your life.

If you’re trying to break a habit that is not serving you, and you don’t consciously and deliberately replace it with
something good, you will form another unhealthy habit to fill the void. So, here’s a five-step process to break—
and replace—any bad habit once and for all.

STEP 1
Think of a bad habit that you would like to break.
You recognize a bad habit by evaluating your behavior. It’s behavior that is giving you a result you don’t want.
If a few habits come to mind, pick just one. Then, write it down in as must detail as possible in the space below.

STEP 2
Write down every association that you connect to this habit/behavior/result. Write out everything you think about it,
the good and the bad. Everything that the thought of it brings to your mind. Write it all out in crystal precise detail.

Next, ask yourself what the polar opposite of the behavior you don’t want would be. Then, in the space below,
write out the new behavior—the opposite behavior—in detail.

When you’re finished, burn the sheet of paper that has the negative behavior written on it. Although this is merely
a symbolic gesture, it is vital that you destroy it.

STEP 3
Write the positive behavior three to five times every day and read it frequently.

Eventually, the new idea will start to take root in your subconscious mind, which will take power away from the
old habit. The bad habit will die from a lack of nourishment, and the positive one will take over.

• What evidence do I have that it is a good idea?
• Where did I get such an idea?

Keep on digging until you’ve exhausted every

possible scenario.
