Projection of China and India in the Nepalese media
Brief background of Nepal: -
Nepal is the world’s 45th biggest country in the world with the population of three crore. The country’s total area is almost equal to that of Bangladesh and double of Sri Lanka. The country takes its pride in its history of Never having been colonised despite having significant geo strategic location bordering China in the north and India in the south.
Nepal has four type of geography viz. mountain and hill
bordering to China in the north and foothills and terai/ madhesh in the south bordering to India. Political system: - It follows Federal Democratic System (2015). Head of the state is President and head of the Government is Prime Minister. Language: - Nepali is the national and official language. Religion: - 81% Hindu, 9% Buddhist, 4.4% Muslim, Christian 1.4% and rest are Kirat having traditional belief. Despite having 90% of Om Sampradaya (Hindu & Buddhist), Nepal declared as secular country (2015). Major political parties: - Nepali Congress ( NC – traditionally democratic and pro-India), Communist Party of Nepal ( Unified Marxist & Leninist – CPN- UML – liberal democratic having inclination towards China), Communist Party of Nepal ( CPN- Maoist Centre- Believe in Mao Zedong ideology) and Janata Samajbadi Party ( JSPN- led by Upendra Yadav - Madhesh based political party having inclination towards China).
