Relationship Between
Man And Nature
Introduction

Arguments about man and nature have been a

central focus of philosophy for centuries and the
concept continues to provoke lively philosophical
debate. While both concepts are distinct from one
another, discussions regarding man and nature are
typically related to those regarding the comparative
importance of genes and environment in human
development.
The relationship between man and
nature includes the core characteristics
such as feelings, psychology, and
behaviors shared by all people.

Islamic view of nature
The purpose of nature is for man ‘to study
nature in order to discover God and to use
nature for the benefit of mankind’.

Nature can be used to provide food and

medical resources for mankind and its
bounty is to be equally distributed among
all peoples.

Nature also as human's testing ground. Man

is instructed to read all signs and practice
preserve and conserve in order to have
deep understanding God and His creations.
The role assigned to ‘Man’ by the Quran included
accountability of the numerous resource given by God
are assigned to man. Everything in God's creation is
for man. Islam encourages its followers to cultivate,
conserve and exploit nature so that it can be
beneficial to humans.

Nature is a gift given by God to man. In

accordance with the position of man as the Caliph
of Allah, then he is required to preserve and
maintain nature as well as use and exploit it.
Thus mankind is inspired to study, understand and
mould the natural forces for its own purposes.
Human beings cannot misuse use all these natural
resources beyond their immediate needs.

Islam urges human to take good care of the nature as nature

also a creature of god’s creation in which man is responsible to
prosper it. All activities that cause harm to mankind and in turn
destroy nature are forbidden. Destruction of the natural
balance is discouraged.

For example, unnecessary killing of animals or removal of

vegetation may in turn lead to starvation due to lack of food.
Forbidden approach
towards nature

Appreciating nature as a sign of gratitude to god for His

grace. It does not mean that human beings believe in
God's creation.

There exist communities in the world that worship nature and

elements or objects found in nature; like the sun, mountain, moon.
To them, nature equates to God or the manifestation of God
Himself [Pantheism]

Any kind of revering nature (veneration), worshipping objects in

nature are forbidden in Islam. These actions lead to syirk (‫)شرك‬.

If the condition of nature worsens, i think the life expectancy
of mankind would be limited as we're restricted to toxins

[5:16 pm, 26/04/2022] Athirah : likewise with nature, i think
the environmental condition of nature depends on the

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAN
AND NATURE

In Islam, man as the caliph of Allah is

obliged to maintain a positive relationship with
Allah, fellow humans, and nature. It's thought
that man's peaceful coexistence with
nature will eventually lead to him reaping
the benefits of nature.
The primary role of human beings is made on this earth indirectly
demanding them to be more concerned about their surroundings. The
environment needs to be managed in the right conditions for the
safety of human beings themselves as well as the balance of other
divine beings.

Understanding each created event can be utilized according

humans who are entrusted to take care of it.
(Al-An'aam 6:38)

The power and trust to govern the environment is given to

human beings. Therefore, every action in administering the
environment properly does not lead to harm and damage.
(Al-A'raaf 7:85)
‫َو َم ا َخَلۡق َنا الَّس ٰم ٰو ِت َو اَاۡلۡرَض َو َم ا‬

laws by which God
created all celestial and
terrestrial bodies.
Man's relationship with nature is that these
two parties are in dire need of each other. It can
be said that the two are complementary. Many
examples can be cited. For example, humans need
nature to determine time. The method is still used
to this day, especially in the chapter of worship.
For example, the crescent moon is seen to
determine the entry of the new moon, the sunlight
determines the entry of the time of prayer, and
the weather of a place can be used as rukhsah in
certain acts of worship.

conclusion;
Basically man and nature is need each other from scientific and islamic perspective.
The mission of man as caliph on earth is based on nurturing environment with a
vision that people should get closer to God.

Islam is a religion which regards the environment as an integral part of one's faith
in God, the manifestation of one's faith can be seen as inheritors of human
behaviour towards the environment. Therefore, Islam has a very detailed
relationship with the concept of preservation and conservation of nature (the
environment).

School and learning institution should be taught the importance of creating a better
world than what we have today. The main ingredients for developing a better world
will be to avoid war, terrorism and racism, and to promote the attitudes of loving,
caring and sharing.

This world needs to be well cared for and preserved starting now for the good and
benefit of future generations.
OPINION
OPINION
In my view, nature is not something "out there" and man is an "insider".Nature purposely
creates more life for man. Man and nature are independent of each other which rich
diversity of interdependent life, including us. By viewing nature as an independent, inherently
unfriendly force that can be manipulated, we put man's existence at risk. We must replace
this deadly mental framework by aligning our thoughts and actions with natural impulses to
achieve more life. As a man bears a responsibility, we should take it seriously and be
concerned about the relationship between man and nature. Not only in science but as a
creature to Allah.
MAISARAH

In my view, human and nature are very related to each other. Human is responsible to preserve the
environment for the best future. Also,Human-induced environmental problems are cascading and
increasingly affecting the ecosystem, human health and well-being. Human activities, awareness and habits
are of paramount importance in remedying the current state of environment. The shaping of attitude,
values, perception, commitment and practice of human beings necessary to preserve and protect the
environment is closely associated with their belief, worldview, tradition and culture. Hence, religion plays an
influential role in developing new patterns of behavior toward the environment. In the context of Malaysia,
it is evident that the condition of the environment in Malaysia is worsening as the country continues to
industrialize dramatically. As a country with over 60% Muslims, it is necessary to look at environmental
preservation from an Islamic perspective
UMAIRAH
In my opinion, what exists on God’s earth has a privilege. Man and nature are complementary
to each other. What Allah SWT created has a function as well as “wisdom”, not just
created. I would like to relate that by the beginning of 2020, the world was already affected
by the COVID-19 epidemic which caused all sectors to stop operating to break the COVID-19
chain. What we could see, at that point, was that the environment was very clean. The river
water reached a clear level. As we know, the environmental contamination today is because of
the human hands who commit heinous acts that damage the environment by dumping garbage,
endless manufacturing, disposal of toxic, etc. Therefore, as human beings, we must take good
care of nature, as mentioned in the Qur'an, as Allah SWT commands us to do amar ma'ruf
and nahi mungkar. So, let us create love for our nature.
HUSNINA

AISHAH From my perspective, definitely man and nature are inseparable. As such, man must take the
proactive measures to maintain his good relationship with nature. We live together on the same earth
with the same role that is as divine beings. Both creatures have their own purpose and role. Among
all creations in the earth, man is placed on the highest pedestal in the hierarchy of creations (has
been chosen to be Khalifah). To fulfill their role as God's representative, human beings are responsible
for prospering, reviving the nature with good care in return for the results and benefits provided by
the nature to human beings. It is like a "given-taken" concept in order to ensure the balance of
nature. The environment must be seen as one component of the ecosystem which has to be respected,
valued, and sustained. Positive behavior can promote permanent environmental sustainability, while
negative behavior can lead to environmental damage.
