 Are migrants and/or asylum seekers and refugees receiving formal

education, provided by the government? The German Constitution


guarantees the right to asylum for the politically persecuted. In 2015 – in
the midst of the "refugee crisis" – 890,000 people came to Germany seeking
protection. Currently, the number of asylum seekers is decreasing: in 2019,
166,000 applications were submitted.

 How much is this costing? Specifically, the price paid by Germany is 16,000


million euros per year, according to research commissioned by the Office for
Social and Labor Policy Studies (BASS).

 Did the country have to allocate more resources?

 What are the implications of educating migrant, asylum seeker, or refugee


children in the country? 

 Are they able to integrate into regular schools or do they need extra
support? Integration policy, a central area in Germany, is seen as a task for
society as a whole, the objective is the inclusion of foreigners and their
social participation in accordance with the Residence Act, legally resident
foreigners are entitled to receive federal benefits for German integration.

 What level of education are migrants, asylum seekers and refugees


obtaining

 Which percentage then is able to find employment? How has this improved
(or negatively impacted) the economy?
