TRANSLATION STUDY

1. KRUS SA BALIKAT

This is dynamic. The translation of these word to word is “ Cross on

the shoulder” which came from the Filipino ancestors. This is an adjective

where in the Philippines we call them krus sa balikat if we are calling them

person who is a burden.

2. ITIM NA TUPA

This is formal equivalence. The meaning of these words in Filipino is

the same in English. In the English language, black sheep is an idiom that

describes a member of a group who is different from the rest, especially

a family member who does not fit in. The term stems from sheep whose

fleece is colored black rather than the more common white; these sheep

stand out in the flock and their wool is worth less as it will not dye.The

term has typically been given negative implications, implying waywardness.

3. MATIGAS PA SA RILES
