1. Determine the neutral axis depth and design flexural strength of the beam cross – section
shown below by using equations for parabolic stress block and the general design chart.
Use concrete class C16/20 and steel grade S-420.

2. An interior T beam in a floor system has an effective width of 750mm and cross section
shown in the figure. The concrete and steel grades are C20/25 and S460 respectively.
Compute the neutral axis depth and design resistance capacity of this beam in the positive
moment region.
