Induction Manual

What is Induction?
First step towards gaining an employees’ commitment, it is aimed at introducing the job and organization to the
recruit and him or her to the organization. It involves orientation and training of the employee in the organizational
culture, and showing how he or she is interconnected to (and interdependent on) everyone else in the organization.
See also orientation.

Introduction
On average, 17% of working population leaves their job per annum. This means that potentially, one in six employees
faces a first day in a new job every year. One reason people change job is that they never feel welcome or a part of
the organization they join. As a result many choose to switch rather than fight, and simply quit their jobs and move on
to another company shortly after they are hired. When this happens the organization they leave behind is faced once
again with the need to hire, induct and train another employee.

Objectives of Induction
To ensure that staff become effective as quickly as possible;
To communicate the TELEMATRIX’s culture, values and policies;
To clarify the TELEMATRIX’s objectives, structure and working arrangements;
To convey the objectives, structure and working arrangements of the Directorate and
Department;
To encourage commitment and motivation through a sense of belonging;
To agree objectives for the initial period of employment;
To explain to the new employee the changes taking place in the organisation.

Once your questions have been asked and answered, make a guess as to your identity. If you are correct, move the
