Activity 1:
I. Define/research the following terms.

A. Social Dance- A non-competitive variation of ballroom and latin dance is

known as social dancing. All the same dances, such the foxtrot, tango, swing, or
cha-cha, are included, but they are organized so that they may be performed in
places like wedding receptions, nightclubs, corporate events, or casual meetings.
Less formal than exhibition dancing, social dance is supposed to be enjoyed
while mingling with others.

B. Ballroom Dance- A collection of partner dances known as ballroom dancing

are popular worldwide, both socially and in competition, primarily for their
performance and entertainment value. A lot of people like seeing ballroom
dancing on stage, in movies, and on television. In its broadest sense, ballroom
dancing may relate to practically any partner-based leisure dance. However, two
main schools have formed with the advent of dance competition (today known as
Dance sport), and the word is now used more specifically to refer to the dances
recognized by those schools.

C. Latin American Dances- The cha-cha-cha, rumba, samba, paso doble, and
American-originated jive are included in the category of Latin dances in
international dancesport events. Salsa, mambo, merengue, rumba, bachata,
bomba, and plena are a few examples of social Latin dances (street Latin).

D. Modern Standard Dances- Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, and Viennese

Waltz are examples of contemporary conventional dances. Latin American
dances include the rumba, cha cha cha, samba, jive, and paso doble.
